Hachette Book Group’s Executive Marketing Strategy department is seeking an Advertising Associate – Kids to oversee advertising planning and execution across all of Hachette’s nonfiction and travel titles.
 
The Advertising Associate will be responsible for seeing advertising campaigns from planning & ideation all the way through reporting, providing thought leadership and insights about advertising behavior for kids & gift books, and helping to build out infrastructure and share best practices for HBG’s programmatic and direct advertising. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and collaborative young professional who is eager to learn more about book publishing and advertising.
 
This role will report to the head of the central advertising group and work collaboratively across all of Hachette’s nonfiction publishing divisions.
 
This is an NYC-based opportunity. Please note our current hybrid model is three days per week in the office. 
 
Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Shepherds advertising plans through every phase – ideation, planning, revisions, creative development, trafficking, optimizing, and reporting.
  • Advocates for advertising plans that are rooted in data and learnings from companywide experiences.
  • Thinks critically and creatively about advertising opportunities.
  • Project manages the creative process and smoothly traffics advertising campaigns within our company systems with a particular eye toward the processes that feed our data intake process.
  • Actively optimizes campaigns to drive strong performance and communicates with divisional marketers about performance, insights, and suggestions.
  • Takes an active interest in learning and being on the forefront of advertising and marketing for children’s books by attending industry events, studying data, and running test campaigns.
  • Coordinates with Hachette’s finance team to manage invoices & budgets and coordinate payments for our campaigns.
  • General administrative support, including creating decks/reports, submitting invoices, scheduling meetings, etc.
  • Builds trusting relationships with vendors and imprint marketers in order to guarantee superb service.

  • Superb organizational, multi-tasking, and project management skills.
  • Proactive communication and problem-solving skills who can collaborate across numerous teams.
  • Interest in improving upon existing processes, systems, and ideas.
  • Able to adapt quickly and keep up with the latest trends and releases.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • 1-2 years of experience in marketing or advertising, preferably with nonfiction books.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Amazon, Facebook, TikTok, and Google advertising platforms.
  • Experience with ad serving, DSPs, and dynamic creative optimization is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the marketing funnel, campaign evaluation metrics, and advertising KPIs.

The compensation for this position is $47,500 - $53,200. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
