The Director of DEI will play a key role in advancing this mission by ensuring the successful execution of HBG’s DEI strategy. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this role will work closely with the HR team, publishing divisions, and leadership to embed DEI principles into HBG’s operations and culture. Additionally, the Director will help guide HBG’s external positioning, build partnerships, and measure the impact of DEI efforts while driving the Changing the Story pillar across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
DEI Strategic Execution (30%)
- Ensure the effective execution of HBG’s comprehensive DEI strategy, aligning initiatives with the company mission and pillars.
- Collaborate with publishing divisions and leadership to integrate DEI principles into all aspects of HBG's operations and culture.
- Measure, track, and analyze the effectiveness of DEI initiatives; report progress and identify opportunities for improvement.
Recruitment and Retention (40%)
- Facilitate open and practical dialogue throughout HBG to foster greater understanding of DEI principles and their integration into HBG’s culture and operations.
- Partner with the recruitment team to enhance HBG’s talent strategy by promoting HBG to candidates from a diversity of backgrounds, building a robust hiring pipeline, and recommending partnerships to generate leads.
- Work across the DEI Advisory Board and Employee Resource Groups to align initiatives with organizational goals, amplify underrepresented voices, and foster a sense of belonging across all teams.
- Support the development of DEL Learning Sessions and L&D programs to enhance DEI and cultural competency.
- Community and Partnership Engagement (30%)
- Identify and develop partnerships with external speakers, experts, and educators to enhance HBG’s DEI efforts.
- Advise the communications team on internal and external communications, including social media, with a DEI lens.
- Help guide HBG’s external positioning on DEI through public engagement, partnerships, and external communications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Proven experience in executing DEI strategies and ensuring their alignment with organizational goals.
- Strong operational and analytical skills, with the ability to use data to assess initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Deep understanding of DEI best practices and trends, with a proven ability to implement actionable programs.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders and influence decision-making to increase leadership accountability for DEI efforts.
- Experience developing talent strategies, including recruitment, retention, and training programs, to support a diverse and equitable workforce.
- Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to foster open dialogue and address challenges across teams.

The compensation for this position is $105,000-$120,000. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
