SUMMARY:   
The Editorial Assistant is responsible for providing editorial support to the Editorial Director of Worthy/FaithWords and the Editorial Director of Center Street. FaithWords is a publisher of the world’s foremost pastoral and ministry voices in the Christian market. Worthy Books is an inspirational adult book publisher specializing in the intersection of faith and culture. Center Street is a leading publisher in the fields of conservative politics, military and leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • Support the Worthy/FaithWords Editorial Director and the Center Street Editorial Director on new book acquisitions and current book projects.
  • Attends and participates in editorial and project development meetings, including editorial board, acquisitions, titling and jacketing meetings.
  • Reads, evaluates, and reports on manuscripts, proposals and other materials submitted for publication through FaithWords, Worthy Books and Center Street.
  • Works closely with authors and literary agents throughout the publishing process (manuscript development, payments, sales information, etc.)
  • Shepherds editorial projects through Production, Managing Editorial, and Marketing, and secure appropriate approvals.
  • Creates and manages title data throughout the publishing process.
  • Prepares pre-acquisition materials, including profit-and-loss statements.
  • Performs administrative duties as needed, including: sorting mail, ordering supplies, mailing packages, directing/responding to phone calls, etc.
     
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:  
  • Demonstrated interest in non-fiction books, especially Christian, inspirational, conservative politics and military publishing.
  • Previous publishing and/or other editorial work experience including internships 
  • Astute reader and evaluator of potential projects for publication.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with a strong emphasis on detail.
  • Excellent writing and editorial skills.
  • Must demonstrate ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively while also ensuring accuracy of work and attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Solid computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and databases.
  • Polished communication skills (verbal & written) & interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through.

The compensation for this position is $41,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
