SUMMARY:
The Senior Systems Analyst will have the responsibility as the primary liaison between the I/T Department and distribution areas. This person reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs to create test plans, business, technical specification, and user training documents. Will work with users and developers during all phases of development including analysis, design, testing, implementation, and post-implementation.  Proficiency required in SQL for analyzing operation trends and to verify hypothesis and testing modules. Additionally, serves as the Analyst for non-technical projects, conducting process evaluations, workflow studies and making recommendations for change and improvement.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Interview users to determine business requirements.  Write Business Requirements and Technical Specifications Documents representing the business’ needs and those of the users.
  • Support developers during the coding phase, answering questions and working as a go-between for I/T and Operations staff members.
  • Participate in system design and documentation spanning all aspects of operating a large modern Distribution Center, including Order Management, WMS (Warehouse Management System), TMS (Traffic Management System), multiple Picking technologies including Pick-To-Light, Pick-To-Voice and Goods-To Person, RF (Radio Frequency), Inventory Management and financial systems.
  • Execute system testing and user acceptance testing, writing, and executing test plans and finding issues and inconsistencies in new and existing systems.
  • Perform data extractions using SQL and other data manipulation tools, to create reusable test sets for both their own testing and that of the development team.
  • Develop and maintain user training and reference documents for new processes in all areas of the business. 
  • Conduct user training classes.
  • Create queries and format results for testing verification and ad hoc research topics.
  • Participate in the production support on-call rotation within the I/T department.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Investigates and confirms that the design and implementation strategies have been completed.
  • Determines trends through datamining of production and history databases.
  • Special assignments as designated by director.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Excellent communication skills required for the creation of business requirements to define functional and technical specifications for I/T systems.  This involves analysis and clarification of business requirements to support management of data and workflow processes and submit recommendations for possible solutions.
  • Good analytical skills needed to prepare detailed process and program specifications, as well as data models and data element definitions.
  • Must possess good working knowledge of fundamental business and system concepts, practices, and procedures. 
  • The ability to use SQL to research operational trends and verify testing.
  • Must be results driven and take appropriate steps to achieve goals while taking ownership of situations as needed.
  • Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Ideal candidates will have at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and 4-6 years of relevant professional experience.  Distribution Center and Warehouse experience is not a requirement.
