Fall 2019 Avalon Travel Editorial Intern
Internships at Avalon Travel in Berkeley, California
Avalon Travel publishes Rick Steves and Moon guidebooks. For anyone interested in a publishing career, experience is a must. Avalon Travel has a strong reputation for providing interns with the skills they need to build a career in the competitive field of book publishing. We offer a comfortable atmosphere in which the challenges of hard work and tight deadlines are met with enthusiasm. We seek interns who are both hardworking and fun, and who will welcome the opportunity to take on more significant responsibilities than those typically offered in internship programs.
In addition to providing administrative support to the Editorial Department, the Editorial Intern will be asked to learn and perform a variety of functions related to the editorial process:
- consistency checks
- fact checking
- manuscript review
- copy editing
• College student or recent graduate
• Strong interest in book publishing
• Exceptional writing and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Very detail oriented
This is a paid internship opportunity. Interns must be able to make arrangements to live in the metropolitan area in which the internship resides, over the course of the program. The program runs for 12 weeks-September 23, 2019-December 13, 2019. While we are able to provide some informal advice, we do not have an official housing program.
