The Quality Engineer will analyze, identify and implement quality improvements in the manufacture of Autocar’s three product lines. The Quality Engineer will drive the corrective action process by developing cross-functional teams that develop and implement appropriate corrective actions. The Quality Engineer will implement procedures during the development process that ensure: effective product launch, consistent/repeatable production quality, and consistent service quality.
Support daily quality activities, including design reviews, PPAP activities, maintenance of standards, production quality support, material review board, field service investigations and compliance investigations and the review of testing.
Support Autocar’s Supplier Corrective Action Report (SCAR) and internal Corrective Action processes. This includes developing and implementing mistake-proof permanent corrective actions (PCA) as required.
Create control plans and inspection procedures for incoming product inspection based on lessons learned and process capability studies created during the design phase
Lead PFMEA actions on key development projects
Develop an in-depth knowledge of the Autocar products and sub-systems.
Achieve annually assigned organizational Key Performance Indicators.
Other responsibilities and duties may be assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering or five years quality engineer experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient in Minitab software or equivalent to develop process capability studies and Weibull analysis
Process driven, technically oriented self-starter
Ability to build strong relationships and influence without direct authority
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated knowledge of quality management systems, quality tools and production processes
