Overview of job 

A Senior Planner/Buyer is the person responsible for running the day to day business and managing the Media Exec and Planner/Buyer across all response media. The role would be working across Moonpig, Nuffield and Arsenal FC. The role has a digital focus but requires a working knowledge of all offline media channels. The clients provide the opportunity to work closely with the brand planning team, econometrics team, GroupM evaluation team and the Real World Insights team.

Measures of success – 

In three months, you would have:

  • Developed a strong relationship with day to day client contacts who will be at marketing manager level
  • Been able to check and identify quickly any errors in plans or rationales that the Planner Buyer produces and be in charge of quality control

In six months, you would have:

  • Developed the skillset of the Media Exec and Planner Buyer so that they can be trusted with daily tasks and producing client-ready work independently
  • Overseen the creation and presentation of insightful, actionable PCAs and RTBs. Focus on effective story-telling and delivering key insights effectively to the client

In 12 months, you would:

  • Be responsible for the workloads of the Media Exec and Planner Buyer, as well as being the first point of contact for mid-level clients
  • Be capably running the day to day account activity
  • Be involved in new business
  • Demonstrate how you have changed the working practices for the better

Responsibilities of the role:
A Senior Planner/Buyer will be responsible for the efficient planning and buying of Direct marketing campaigns using the broad range of DR media. This role requires a thorough understanding of Direct Marketing principles, how the media market operates, plus an advanced skill in negotiation. It will also require an ability to be highly motivated, numerate and articulate, both when speaking to clients, writing documents and analysing results.

What you will need:

  • Forensic attention to detail and a keen analytical eye
  • Strong understanding of negotiation with media owners
  • Exposure and ability to plan across paid, owned and earned channels
  • Ability to manage and develop talent and workloads
  • Experience using media tools like MediaExplorer, TGI, AdDynamix etc.
  • Fully versed in the suite of Microsoft Office tools (Excel and Powerpoint in particular)
