Overview of job

We are looking for a talented planner to join Team GSK, to lead planning across a varied portfolio of brands, working with creative agency partners and the client brand teams to drive comms strategy and implementation. 

GSK is a prestigious and high profile account within Mediacom. We have a unique relationship with the client and work in close collaboration as a marketing partner, inputting into every stage of their broader marketing process and consistently produce award winning work.

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the Business Director, Jonathan Robson.

Measures of success –

In three months, you would have:

  • Developed your profile with clients, within the agency and with agency partners
  • Aligned yourself to GSK & Mediacom ways of working, systems and tools
  • Brought a fresh perspective to existing workstreams

In six months, you would have:

  • Gained a deep understanding of GSK’s business needs
  • Gained the trust of key client contacts
  • Developed or implemented innovative new campaigns

In 12 months, you would have:

  • Established yourself as a communications authority within GSK
  • Managed a full planning cycle, with end to end development, execution and analysis of best in class work.
  • Expanded your skills and expertise as a media operator and business consultant.




Responsibilities of the role:

You will be the lead Planner voice on the account, translating appropriate Global directive work into a clear UK approach, developing an integrated communications plan and driving best in class execution and innovation with the other agencies.

This role requires real skill and enthusiasm in understanding and developing connection strategies to change consumer behaviour, and developing idea that will really connect with the audiences.  It also provides the opportunity to work within a truly global organisation, and influence the global direction of these brands.

The job entails:

  • Leading connections media strategy development, supported by the Business Director and Strategic Planning Director.
  • Supervising delivery of the strategy in communications by the buying departments & planners
  • Putting in place effective measurement; coordinate results and the presentation of learning
  • Ensuring the effective development of team members (a manager and a planner will report into you)
  • Inspiring GSK Marketeers to engage with new comms opportunities


What you will need:

GSK are not a standard TV-centric FMCG client. In fact, only 65% of ATL monies are invested in TV, with increasing levels of investment now across multiple Digital platforms. The GSK Consumer Health business is at the forefront of content marketing and digital innovation, so confidence to navigate and offer opinion on the digital opportunity is essential.

Experience and confidence of working with Econometrics is also critical, the UK is a lead market globally within GSK for its focus on media analytics and optimisation.

  • Digital knowledge & experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills – key liaison point between key stakeholders
  • Full knowledge of all relevant systems (AdDynamix, Telmar, DDS etc)
  • Desirable
  • FMCG / Pharma experience
  • Experience of management of a team
