MediaCom runs the Dell account globally, with our HQ in NY and client teams covering all regions, EMEA, APAC, LATAM and NA.

It is a top 3 account for MediaCom globally and as such is prestigious and well-regarded internally.

We provide end-to-end services for Dell, from strategy to planning to buying across all media, plus content strategy, SEO and some creative services. So it is a truly integrated account.

Dell is split into two businesses, DellEMC (large corporate IT solutions) and Dell CSB (Consumer Small Business laptops and solutions).

This role is for Dell CSB.

What do Dell CSB do and what sets them apart?

Dell Consumer and Small Business is a massive start-up. The brand is famous, but they are re-launching “Expansion Markets” marketing across EMEA this year and next based on incredible new product ranges.
Their flagship XPS laptop has won hundreds of awards and has recently been called “the best laptop in the world”.

Dell have three dedicated audiences they wish to reach:

Digital Affluent Families – tech savvy, medium/high income families looking for the best technology

Gamers – Hardcore or occasional gamers are supported via the incredible Alienware brand or Dell’s new Gaming-Ready laptop range

Small businesses – Dell are renown for supporting businesses, and their solutions for small business are a major focus for 2018

Each audience requires insight into customer behaviour, strong strategic development and broad media solutions.

In 2017, Dell partnered with Marvel/Disney and featured in Spiderman Homecoming to major effect.
A similar Marvel partnership is planned for 2018, which shows the strength of their ambition.

For 2018 we predict Dell CSB will spend around $40million across EMEA, and with large budgets comes large responsibility

We are looking for the new Media Manager to come and join the Dell Consumer and Small Business planning team based in London, working on the Germany, France and Sweden markets. The right candidate will effectively manage the development of the media plan and work closely with the execution teams to ensure delivery of the plan. The Media Manager will report into the Associate Director.  This is a great opportunity for a highly competent self-starter to take the next step by working with a Global brand at one of the world’s biggest media agencies.

The Role Objective

The Media Manager is the daily contact responsible for interaction and liaison with clients, execution teams at MediaCom, local teams and other agencies.

This role is focused on client management, strategic planning, managing the delivery of the plans and working as part of an integrated agency team.

The role requires working with a client team made up of a range of key disciplines that help us deliver a top class service to Dell: Account Management, Strategic Comms Planning, Business Science, Consumer Insight, MediaCom Beyond Advertising (content), Search, Digital, Social media.

This role will be mainly responsible for Dell CSB in the following aspects:

-          The role involves working closely on communications planning for the Consumer, Gaming and Small Business aspects of Dell’s CSB business in EMEA

-          This includes reputation campaigns to change perceptions of the Dell brand and Demand Generation campaigns to drive people who are in market for a computer through the purchase funnel to the point of conversion.

The Primary roles are:

To work closely with the Associate Director on delivering the following:

–       Consolidation and analysis of relevant information - consumer insights, , competitive strategies, brand tracking, media research, target audience segmentation to help drive plan development 

–       Manage process from briefing media owners and execution teams, providing strategic guidance, client sell-in/approval, post campaign analysis and competitive reporting

–       Promote innovative media solutions in line with the evolving media landscape - advocating the importance of Digital & Innovation across Bought, Owned and Earned media. 

–       Strategic planning – work with Business Director & Associate Director to drive the creation and delivery of integrated media and communications solutions to meet strategic business targets

–       Recommend communication initiatives with strategic partners and media owners

–       Liaise with the creative agencies and other stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met and ensuring a smooth process during campaign planning

–       Take findings and translate into insights, and case studies to facilitate knowledge sharing

–       Coordination of financial reporting and updates – liase with the finance team at MediaCom and the client to ensure reports are up to date and accurate

–       Ensuring accurate and effective reporting of campaign performance, as well as leading any actions required by the data.

–       Coordination of local market planning and buying – liaising and maintaining relationships with local MediaCom markets

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

·         Strong team player (we work as an integrated agency team)

·         Good Project Management skills

·         Good analytical thinker, with strategic skills

·         Ability to prioritise work load when intensity rises

·         Experience in planning and buying across offline and digital media

·         Good attention to detail

·         Can do attitude and takes ownership of responsibilities

·         Ability to present to senior clients


·         Experience of Direct Response advertising very helpful

·         Good knowledge of offline and digital media, eg affiliates, search, display, programmatic
