THE ROLE:  Our Client Partners are all about client delivery.  The core role for the Client Partnership Team is to lead multi-faceted complex businesses - deliver great service by leading exceptional client teams.

Reporting to:               Business Director

Responsible for:          Senior Account Manager and Account Executive


  • To help Wavemaker to realise its ambition the most distinctive and admired media, content, and technology brand in the world.
  • Be a highly confident and articulate account lead and lynchpin with ultimate responsibility for their accounts day-to-day running.
  • Develop the account team and, alongside the account planner, pro-actively lead strategic direction of the account. Deliver operational excellence across all facets of the accounts they service, exemplary client service (monitored and measured by our client surveys) and provide quality control and sound judgement for the account team.
  • Solid risk and financial management and commercially astute; developing new business opportunities, and existing account growth.


Client servicing

  • Ability to build and maintain client and agency relationships at a mid-senior level.
  • Clarity in delivering media recommendations to clients.
  • Someone clients value and want on their business.
  • Conscious of client servicing scores and guides the team to ensure a continuous improvement of them.
  • Is an advocate of Wavemaker and its ambitions at all times. Champions, and is an example of Wavemaker's core behaviours.
  • Has high level of enthusiasm, cares about the business and wants to make a difference.

Strategy & planning

  • Responsible for interpreting client briefs - can understand client’s business challenges and engage strategists / specialists to identify a comms strategy to address it.
  • Articulate. Can create a well thought through presentation with a coherent argument, which requires minimal input from colleagues to make it ‘client ready’.


  • Commercially minded. Has a solid commercial understanding of clients and of Wavemaker's products and services. Has a comprehensive understanding of all important stakeholders of their clients business including decision makers, retailers/other distribution points, competitors, shareholders and workforce.
  • Budget control. Understands the importance of sound financial awareness, including budget control and the impact their role has on Wavemaker profitability. Engenders strong financial accounting and admin across the team.

Team management

  • Responsible for development of managers, executives, and assistants within the team with support from BD. Able to keep people motivated and engaged. Sets clear standards and quality control’s the teams work ensuring they deliver work on time, aligned to the clients’ media strategy.
  • Put’s in place a training, development and feedback programme that ensures the ongoing development of Managers/Executives, and is responsible for conducting performance reviews for direct reports. Is fully aware of direct report’s personal developmental tasks and enables their growth.
  • Collaborative: Facilitate a close and productive working relationship with all other Wavemaker specialisms to produce brilliant work for our clients. Clear communication of overall client objectives to the wider team. Writing clear briefs and providing feedback on work provided.
  • Has engendered the respect of those they have worked with. Has high levels of integrity and builds trust with ease. Sets a good example within the team. Is a calm, reliable and self-motivated individual.

Innovation & collaboration

  • Ensure strong professional relationships are formed with other Wavemaker departments, creative agencies and media owners to ensure integrated approach to client’s business.
  • Actively seek creative and innovative media solutions in collaboration with other Wavemaker teams
  • Is a self-starter who takes the initiative and develops solutions off their own back with minimal support. Volunteers to expand their experience at Wavemaker. Has actively participated in new business projects and pitches.
  • Has a drive to make themselves better at what they do and to increase their knowledge. Maintains a detailed topical knowledge of relevant media developments, and actively seeks opportunities to learn. Engenders curiosity in their team.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Rounded media knowledge. A robust background in media is essential, with extensive channel knowledge. 6 years plus industry experience.
  • Is aware of Wavemaker and industry data tools, and encourages the use of data within their team and its application in all work to generate insight and improve performance.
  • Digital. Utilises insight driven from all digital planning tools available. Consults with ‘digital experts’ for advice and stimulus across display, social and search, but is confident discussing digital with clients without needing specialists to be present. Capitalises on all opportunities to further their digital knowledge.
  • Excellent presentation skills required.
