What does the role of Global Media Data Analyst involve?

First and foremost this role is about risk management; We work across a variety of international clients and for each we have contractual commitments setting out the media value (combination of quality and pricing) we are required to deliver (by country and media type) with financial penalty for under-delivery and bonus for over delivery.  The main focus of the role will be to work with our local market trading teams to ensure they understand their pricing requirements, help them to quantify all aspects of their media value delivery and ensure that they accurately report this. Beyond this, as a team, we co-ordinate and consolidate our media buying performance across all countries to report back to client procurement teams.

Beyond the client reporting role you will also gain expertise in all areas of media trading including commercial models, how media agencies work beyond, negotiation skills, network management, data analysis and knowledge of global media markets and buying mechanics.

You will be working in the media investment team alongside an investment Director and Manager based in London, supporting local GroupM markets and working on a wide range of clients and categories (Telecommunications, Movies, FMCG, Home Furnishings, Luxury…the list goes on).  There is certainly lots to learn and plenty of scope to be challenged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop knowledge, co-ordinate, and measure GroupM’s media buying performance on key global accounts.
    • Analyse detailed client buying data points against pre-determined benchmarks to provide in-depth buying analysis.
    • Help train local GroupM teams in the value creation definition and reporting process by helping them to identify value driven through the media buying process.
    • Create reports consolidating buying performance across different markets and media types.
    • Develop key relationships with third party auditors ensuring a smooth media buying audit process.
  • Support the New Business team on multi-media pitches.
  • Seek projects outside immediate area of responsibility to broaden your media awareness and add value to the network.
  • Create and update local market trading landscape presentations for GroupM and client education.
