Objectives of the Role


The Account Director is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of a project to the client’s satisfaction and within agreed scope and timelines.  Also, manage several high-level client relationships, oversee multiple projects simultaneously and look for opportunities to expand existing relationships.



Key Areas of Responsibility and Accountability:


1. Strategic Skills

  • Communicate client objectives to all team members to ensure consistency
  • Communicate and disseminate client requests to internal teams; manage client expectations/perceptions; manage internal communications and external communication with vendors, media partners
  • Structure and manages integrated, multi-track projects and programs
  • Contribute to business development opportunities as needed
  • Responsible for driving commercial contributions towards company growth as well as account profitability
  • Review project and creative briefs to ensure overall strategic direction in on-target.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies internally
  • Provide overall strategic advice on brand communications by applying Mediacom best approaches
  • Drive the communication planning discipline for holistic solutions on brands
  • Strong analytical capabilities – comfortable with numbers to provide strategic recommendations by using all available data

          Agree and set business objectives for the client and review account performance against these objectives



2.  Client Account Management

  • Drive strategic initiatives for clients towards specific measurable business goals
  • Establish relationship framework in collaboration with the client
  • Build and manage senior client relationships (expectations, communications, escalation, etc.)
  • Understand the Clients culture, capabilities, team structure and take decisions to ensure success for the client
  • Develop case studies on clients’ business



3.  Operating and Technical Requirements

  • Analyse key issues and risks in the program and assess business impact
  • Drive effective communication of issues and risks to the client when relevant to the senior clients
  • Set project quality and performance standards. Assess and manage issues within, and across, multiple projects
  • Review overall strategic and creative work to ensure compliance to quality on all client deliverables set forth in the creative brief
  • Display critical thinking in evaluating work before it is presented to client







4.  People Management

  • Drives succession planning for the key roles on the account
  • Coach and mentor junior team members including objective setting and development plans.
  • Build a positive, collaborative working environment for the team 
  • Actively get involved in company events such as hiring, training and internal initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with senior staff members including Creative, Strategy and Production



  1. New Business


          Identify areas of possible business growth within existing client base and new clients

          Responsible for identifying areas of business growth and establishing search solutions that are aligned to requirements and budgets accordingly.

          Establish and maintain relationships with key decision makers in order to secure new business

          When required, participate in pitches and help with new business wins outside of the client



Other Areas

  • Process and product delivery supervision
  • Ensure smooth working processes
  • Work to develop client-specific Standard Operating Procedures, ensure adherence to SOP amongst team members


Key Performance Indicators:


          Client: win, satisfaction, retention and growth

          People: identification and retention of high performing, team engagement levels

          Revenue: meet revenue targets for the client account (to be agreed)

          Growth: post win, to bring account growth (growth target to be agreed)

          Personal development: Positive My360 feedback from reports, peers and clients
