Overview of the Job

The Planning Manager will lead campaign planning, with support from the Associate Director, on day to day campaigns across the Sky Cinema service. They will help manage the whole campaign process from start to finish and along with the team, ensure that the quality of output from strategy to implementation is world class.

You will be working on Sky Cinema, the new and improved movie service from Sky (rebranded from Sky Movies in July). An industry leading movie service and a revitalised brand, Sky Cinema is an exciting proposition to work on as a planner: new premieres every day, best HD and sound available in the market and the largest collection of movies on demand in the UK.

Measures of success

A successful manager on the Sky Cinema team will be able to handle to day to day running of the account, liaising with the Associate Director to manage all incoming requests. They will deliver responses to campaign briefs that will beapproved by clients and well implemented. Wherever possible, they will have looked to include new and interesting media opportunities. They will be a key element in growing the skills and knowledge of the executive working on the account. They will have developed a trusted relationship with the client’s media and marketing team, as well as good relationships with key media owners.

In three months, you would have:

  • Developed a good grasp of the Sky Cinema service, the different Sky products and the overall setup of the teams both at MediaCom and at Sky
  • Developed good relationships with the different MediaCom teams involved in the planning and buying of Sky Cinema campaigns.
  • Assisted the Associate Director on the account in the planning and implementation of campaigns

In six months, you would have:

  • Built strong relationships with your client team and started to gain their trust in your media expertise and recommendation
  • Planned and managed the implementation of your own campaign
  • Taken ownership of the execution or the management of most day to day tasks on the account.

In 12 months, you would have:

  • Become the key point of contact for day to day requests from the marketing and media teams at Sky
  • Manage the day to day running of the account, with the support of the Associate Director on the account

Responsibilities of the role:

The Sky Cinema planning manager will be responsible for:

  • Take ownership of campaign briefs and, with the support of the Associate Director, develop the communication strategy, brief the channel specific planning and buying teams as well as manage the implementation and reporting at the end of the campaign.
  • Present recommendations and post campaign analysis to senior clients
  • Liaising with clients on a day to day basis to manage campaign planning requirements and ad hoc requests.
  • Assist and manage the production of post campaign analysis, spend reports for the research agency and competitive intelligence reports with the Planning Executive.
  • Proactively look for new and interesting media opportunities, as well as ways to improve our media activity.
  • Help develop the skills of the Planning Executive

 

What you will need:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced manager, able to be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative media solutions for Sky Cinema. They are a great communications planner, with a strong strategic acumen as well as a capacity to build and maintain great client relationships.

  • Experience at a Manager level in a communications planning role.
  • Experience developing more junior team members
  • Excellent media knowledge, in particular in digital. You will need a clear understanding of roles for media and ability to explain the pros and cons of media channels to substantiate your recommendation
  • Experienced at liaising with clients on a day to day basis as we have a very close relationship with the Sky teams. An ability to build strong regular media owner relationships is also needed.
  • Confident and competent at using core planning tools, especially TGI and Ad dynamix.
  • Ability to think creatively and put forward new and exciting media opportunities to clients
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, with a strong attention to detail and an aptitude for problem solving and process
  • Great communication skills: You will be required to present to senior clients regularly
  • Microsoft office skills: A good command of Excel and Powerpoint are essential.
