THRIVE 2024

At Wavemaker we believe there is always a better way to grow. And we do this by positively provoking growth for our clients and our people. So, with our New to Media scheme, you could be working with renowned brands and organisations in a global media agency, gaining a nationally recognised qualification, all while earning a competitive salary. If that sounds like the kind of growth you want, then here’s what you need to know…

WHO ARE YOU?

We are looking for bright, curious, and passionate candidates who are collaborative, entrepreneurial, and diverse, to join our 24-month entry-level Thrive programme at Wavemaker, based in our London Office.

Regardless of whether you are a school leaver, a degree- holder or looking for a career change; if you are new to the world of media, this is the role for you.

All experience levels are welcome: you just need the right attitude and an appetite to learn on the job to develop your career.

As a result, we do not have any set requirements in terms of age, experience, or qualifications, except that you must be aged 18+ by August 2024, and we, unfortunately, cannot sponsor visas for those unable to work in the UK visa-free.

We're seeking individuals with a foundation in the following skills:

Teamwork: The ability to work well in a team environment, contribute ideas, and collaborate with colleagues to achieve common goals.

Problem-solving: Being able to identify issues, analyse situations, and develop solutions demonstrating adaptability and resourcefulness.

Time Management: Prioritising tasks, meeting deadlines, and efficiently managing workloads.

Adaptability: The capacity to adapt to changing circumstances, learn new skills quickly, and flourish in dynamic environments.

Attention to Detail: Paying close attention to details to ensure accuracy, quality, and thoroughness in tasks and deliverables.

We value drive and motivation, and a passion for media, content, and technology. If you can bring those things to the role, you will prosper within our agency.

WHAT WILL THE ROLE BE LIKE?

When you join the Thrive programme, you will begin by taking part in a two-week immersive induction to get to the root of how we work internally as well as with our clients and partners.

You'll be joining a community of Thrivers and other early career professionals to learn, share and grow from. After you complete your onboarding with us, you’ll be embedded within your specialist teams and prepare to begin your qualification.

Your development is an important part of your journey with Wavemaker, and we’re equally committed to nurturing and enhancing your abilities throughout the programme. You'll evolve your existing skills in a supportive environment, and you’ll be provided with dedicated learning opportunities and guidance from the Early Talent Development Manager to help you thrive.

You will also have regular exposure to media partners such as ITV, Snapchat, Meta, etc. as part of the learning process. There will be dedicated study time throughout the duration of the scheme to help you gain the essential specialist qualifications for a permanent executive role.

THE SPECIALISMS

Planning

In Media Planning some of your responsibilities would be coordinating advertising campaigns for clients. You would work closely with clients and internal teams to understand the audience and the objective of the campaign. Using this information, you would then develop strategic media plans that outline where and when advertisements will be placed to reach the desired audience and to effectively deliver the outcomes that we need. This might involve speaking with our Audience Intelligence team, having a meeting with a media partner such as Meta, or working with some of our media planning systems. Throughout the campaign, you would help monitor performance metrics and regularly provide updates and reports to clients, ensuring transparency and accountability in the advertising process.

AV/Media

AV/Media teams specialise in supporting audio-visual media campaigns for clients. This role involves collaborating with clients to understand their objectives, proposing AV media solutions, and overseeing the implementation of campaigns. Responsibilities include coordinating and supporting conversations with media partners, negotiating contracts with media vendors, and ensuring the seamless execution of AV advertisements across various platforms such as television, radio, print & Cinema. They also track campaign performance, provide analysis and optimisation recommendations, and maintain client relationships to ensure successful outcomes.

Digital Activation

Digital activation is the practice of planning and buying media across a range of fast-changing digital partners (e.g. TikTok, Google and Meta). You will learn how to use data and insights to recommend the best tactics for your clients whether they are driving brand awareness, user engagement or sales. The roles within digital activation are varied and will involve working with a range of market-leading tech as well as a broad range of partners in the industry.

It is a discipline that encourages innovation, problem solving and curiosity. Whatever specialism you choose, we will have you diving into big brands, insightful projects and/or famous accounts from the off. It won’t be easy, but we promise that this will be the best kickstart to a career in media you could hope for. You’ll get to work alongside some of the brightest brains in the business in a department that best suits your interests and potential, you will also have a Mentor to support you along the way who has been on a similar journey.

HOW DO YOU APPLY?

Here is what you need to do to apply:

Step One: Submit your CV and tell us about a brand or campaign that stands out to you and why. You can answer the campaign question in any format you like such as a written response (maximum of 250 words), presentation, video, poem… whatever gets your personality and point of view across. Your application will need to include both your CV and your campaign response - if it doesn’t, unfortunately, we won’t be able to consider you for the role.

Step Two: You will then have a conversation with Talent Team to find out more about you and your experience.

Step Three: You will be invited to an Immersion Day where you will be invited to the Wavemaker offices

Applications close on the 10th June, so please don’t miss out.
