EMEA Head of Planning

Media Planning London, England

Description

Position at m/SIX

m/SIX
EMEA Head of Planning

Role Outline

m/SIX is the fastest-growing independent agency network in Europe. In the last year, both global billings and headcount have more than doubled and we have won pitches on three continents in the last three months.

Thanks to this rapid growth, we are now looking for an EMEA strategic lead. This is a brand new role for the agency and seen as a fundamentally important role for the company, both in view of current client list but also in terms of continuing to grow our client portfolio across the region.

The client responsibilities of this role will include the Toyota & Lexus business across 16 European markets, with the primary client interface being the European clients based in Brussels. This role will also oversee a number of smaller multi-market clients that require some strategic guidance, as well as leading strategy in EMEA pitches as they arise. Notably, Toyota are a top-tier sponsor of the Olympics, and this aspect of their communications is an important and exciting part of the strategic responsibility.

The opportunity is for a dynamic and impressive strategic thinker to continue the ongoing development of our European agency offering. Whilst we have set out our global vision for how we work, we are still working to codify how we operate at local, regional & global levels and as such there is a lot of scope for this role to make a real difference to the global agency network.

The agency is riding a crest of a wave, is well financed and this role represents a career defining opportunity for a strategically minded media person.

Who are m/SIX

We offer a unique proposition in that we are an agile, data-led business that was born in the digital age – but we are supported through our minority ownership by GroupM with full access to their world-class data and media pricing capabilities.

We sit within our own holding company structure, called The&Partnership. This structure includes, alongside m/SIX: the creative agency CHI&Partners, the PR agency Halpern, the content agency All Together Now, the digital specialist Rapier, and the experiential agency Muster.

The&Partnership overall has a strong ethic of pitching in and getting our hands dirty, regardless of level. As such we are naturally less hierarchical and territorial than many other agency environments, particularly when it comes to working with creative teams. A good idea doesn’t mind who had it, and we look for people who just want to make good work happen.

We specialise in embedding resource directly into client offices, and flexibly partnering with other agencies to provide wider client solutions than just media planning & buying. We have a strong heritage in data & tech solutions, and use this capability to mine data for real human insight that powers all our communications planning. As a direct result of this approach, we are the fastest-growing independent agency network in Europe.

We are ahead of the curve in terms of offering an integrated approach to our clients. We are ideally placed for the modern media and marketing landscape.

What experience & skills does the role require?

The candidate will need to demonstrate clear & knowledgeable media strategic thinking that inspires innovative & effective work. The nature of our integrated model means that the strategic input required is varied and interesting. Beyond media planning, we are actively using real behavioural audience data to shape creative briefs, content platforms and production asset lists.

Experience of the automotive category is desirable but not essential. There is no doubt that international experience is helpful, as multi-market clients have some specific needs (simplicity, understanding of the different media landscapes in each market and consistency of approach across those markets). Experience of working with a community of planners across a range of markets is also helpful. However, we are happy to be open-minded about a candidate with extensive experience from a market with a strong strategic reputation.

Where is the role based?

Our bustling EMEA hub office in Evelyn Yard, just off Rathbone Place in central London. More than 60 people across all disciplines, including the creative teams and studio mac operators, all sit together in one huge space we call the garage. It's a cool place to work!

Who will the role report to?

The Global Chief Strategy Officer will be line manager. The overall account lead for the Toyota & Lexus business will be a key stakeholder.

We are an equal opportunities employer. All GroupM agencies are equal opportunities employers and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, gender identity, disability, culture/religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
