Job Title:Digital Display Executive

Reporting to:Digital Display Manager

Key reports:Direct Reports: Digital Display Manager, Digital Director, Digital Business Director


Role context:


The Display Executive will have a crucial role in the client teams, responsible for the planning and execution of best in market Digital Display* campaigns & ultimately to deliver valuable outcomes for our clients.  Whilst Display will be your core specialism you will have the opportunity to flex into Search & Social channels depending on your client’s business needs.  


*Digital Display classified as: Display IO & Programmatic & paid content distribution across desktop, mobile & tablet devices.


Core Responsibilities:


  1. Client Servicing:


  • You will work with your manager and the Digital Director to produce and if appropriate at times present strategy and rationales, media plans, projections and results to clients
  • You will need to develop and demonstrate a good understanding of your clients industry sector and their competitors



  1. Strategy & Planning:


  • You will help your manager to provide media plans, KPI’s, projections/forecasts and rationales for your channels in response to client briefs


  • Testing plans will be a key component of this role, you will work with your manager, the digital director, media owners & ad tech partners to create and deliver robust testing schedules.
  • You will need to develop and demonstrate a good understanding of key industry planning tools and platforms (e.g.TGI, Comscore, Hitwise, Google Insight tools, Facebook Audience Planner) to enable you to build robust plans and rationale documents that justify your media selections


  1. Campaign Management & Performance:


  • Your core role will be to activate and optimise Display campaigns.  Working with your manager you will be responsible for meeting and exceeding client targets
  • Each week you will review, with your specialist team, performance against targets and adjust optimisation activities accordingly
  • Every month and quarter you will work with your Manager and the Digital Director (and Head of Specialism if required) to create and amend the 30/60/90 day optimisation schedules for your clients which will deliver quantifiable outcomes
  • You will need to become expert at using industry and MEC tools and systems (e.g. DFA, D-Cor, D-Veri) to monitor performance and conduct daily checks to ensure budget pacing is as planned and that activity is serving correctly
  • You will need to log significant actions on your accounts to feed into post campaign reviews and the shape of future activity
  • In conjunction with A&I, you will need to produce weekly / fortnightly / monthly reports for your clients that include commentary explaining how the activity is performing, key optimisations delivered and next steps
  • Each quarter you will be required to audit the Display activity of other teams within MEC and feedback recommendations.



  1. Commercials:


  • You will ensure all accounts are booked onto the system correctly, reconciled within the monthly window, that financial queries are addressed in a timely manner and that MEC financial processes are followed correctly, especially in relation to SOX compliance, plan approval & PO receipt / reconciliation
  • You will work to overall account performance related fee targets as outlined by the Digital Business Director
  • You will develop negotiation skills in order to be able to construct deals which maximise value both for clients and MEC
  • In conjunction with your manager, liaise with Trading & Barter teams prior to display planning in order to meet commercial objectives for clients and MEC
  • You should be fully aware of all MEC / GroupM deal partners and priorities


  • If working on an audited client, ensure you understand the process and methodology for benchmarking and work with your manager to collate all relevant data sets as per agreed deadlines
  • Ensure your timesheets are up-to-date and accurate each month
  • Work with your manager to ensure you are spending the right amount of time on each client


  1. Innovation & Collaboration:


  • Help your Manager and Digital Director to leverage key media owner relationships and client data insights in order to produce innovative work which drives tangible business results for our clients
  • Develop strong relationships with relevant media owners at an appropriate level, especially Xaxis and where appropriate vertical specialist teams at Google, Facebook and Twitter and other external agencies on your clients businesses
  • In conjunction with your Manager and Digital Director, work with key media owners such as Xaxis, Plista, Light Reaction and other MEC deal partners to identify new products and features our clients should be testing, including Beta tests to ensure your clients activity is best in class
  • Work with your manager and Digital Director to produce case studies with media owners such as AOL etc.
  • Actively seek out new trends, industry new / updates and product launches and share with wider team
