About the Role

This role will chiefly be responsible for providing reporting, analytics and deep level insight, to support the Programmatic Buying Unit in the UK. Through these insights the role will also contribute significantly to the strategy across various aspects of campaign planning, set-up, optimisation and insights for PBU Operations, Agencies and Clients.

The individual will be well experienced in business intelligence techniques married with a deep understanding of the digital media landscape to enable effective communication of complicated concepts to other members of the PBU team, including Agencies, and clients as required.

Responsibilities

The day to day responsibilities of the Senior Insight Manager will vary considerably, however they are expected to focus on the following areas of activity:

Insight and Analytics

  • Build, develop, maintain and roll out Reporting Dashboards:
    • Optimisation: dashboards to facilitate advanced optimisation, analysis of campaigns, inventory and data for use by Optimisation team and for your ongoing projects.
    • Campaign Reporting: dashboards to facilitate campaign reporting with the agencies
    • Management Reporting: dashboards to surface information required to track business KPIs
    • Pitch support on ad-hoc basis
  • Support Optimisation Managers to streamline and create reporting best practices within the Operations team
  • Owner of data processes sharing data with agencies FTP servers
  • New Reporting Products
    • Drive new product initiatives with other internal teams to use new Data Sources to drive and grow our ability to deliver insights to our clients.
  • Advanced Optimisation:
    • Research and develop advanced optimisation strategies. These may include looking beyond site level optimisation in order to define advanced user attribute aggregation and the translation in to campaign targeting strategies that deliver effective results for our clients.
  • Data Strategy:
    • Research and develop methods that maximize effectiveness of client data, 3rd party data and publisher data either in isolation or in combination. Work with Agencies, Programmatic Consultant and GM Media Team to develop brand data strategies.
  • Supply Analytics:
    • Define a process to analyse and monitor network level performance of supply used across all PBU campaigns.
  • Insights Projects:
    • Support the Operations Director, Head of Optimisation and Commercial Director in in-depth data driven tasks such as case studies and whitepapers.
    • Using data insights to influence day-to-day decisions as well as mid to long-term strategy.
    • Use experience and drive to identify areas that require analysis to provide value to the PBU.

Optimisation Support

  • Carry out optimisation tasks as required to support the PBU Optimisation team and develop own learning

GroupM Interaction

  • Provide expertise to support other business within GroupM interaction as required on a basis approved by the Operations Director.

Experience Required

The right candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Ability to work independently with limited input once objectives have been set
  • Evidence of technical comfort and strong understanding of internet functionality
  • Deep understanding of digital media technologies and market
  • Digital experience in an agency holding company/agency/trading desk/network
  • Evidence of having approached problems from a mathematical perspective and working through to a solution in a logical way
  • Experience with database querying languages and data extraction techniques. E.g. SQL.
  • Experience with business intelligence software E.g. Datorama, Tableau
  • Advanced excel skills are essential, including VBA.
  • Superior analytical skills – ability to identify trends in large data sets and understanding what these trends mean to the business objectives.
  • Experience communicating findings to audiences with a variety of backgrounds.  Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent time management skills, demonstrating ability to balance various tasks and deadlines.
