MediaCom - Digital Associate Director - Shell


This is one of the most challenging and rewarding digital opportunities in MediaCom.


The Role

Shell has undergone significant digital transformation in media since 2013 where we have seen digital investment increase four fold! During that time, we have worked with Shell to develop an industry leading tech stack.

We are now looking for someone that will take Shell to the next stage of their transformation. This will include testing and piloting new technology and working with our global partners to help the client understand more around how their campaigns are really performing and to use digital technology to help them answer fundamental business questions (e.g. DMP, Programmatic etc).

A key element of the transformation has been the centralisation of key digital functions, including paid social and programmatic. This is currently something that we are evaluating and we’re looking to continually review the model to ensure Shell get the best possible digital product.

We have developed strong relationships with global partners including Google and facebook. These allow us access to pioneering technology and managing these relationships are a key part of the role.

We’re looking for someone who has a strong vision of how digital media will develop in the coming years, understands the latest technological changes and is incredibly well informed with market developments. The ideal candidate can show Shell how they can connect their products to their audiences using digital data and tools.


What we are looking for 

You must possess the strategic ability to advise Shell how digital media can engage their audience, deliver on their marketing strategies, and grow their business.

You will need the gravitas to communicate this in a compelling way to the client and the people skills to gain support from key internal stakeholders.

You will partner with the Global Account Director and Global Strategy Director to determine how digital media is affecting all communications and how online and offline continue to integrate.

Shell are one of MediaCom’s most progressive clients, they are brave and willing to experiment with new ideas and we must continue to feed their appetite for innovation in the digital arena.

We need someone to inspire and lead digital specialists on the team and ensure all the specialists are working in a joined-up way. This includes the global team in London (c.30 people) and digital specialists working in local media teams world-wide (30+ markets).
