About the role

This role sits within the EMEA Strategy team of MFG. The core responsibility of a MFG strategist is to create the input needed to help our clients think and act differently, leading to famously effective creative media output for Google in service of business growth.

Day to day, as an MFG strategy team we execute four kinds of strategic tasks: comms, creative, media, and innovation. We work (collectively) to ensure data & insight led strategic and creative direction is followed through. From planning to implementation to rigorous evaluation. We help challenge (politely) and take work further, always looking for ways to evolve and improve what’s gone before; with the ambition to deliver industry leading breakthroughs.

This role sits within the Comms Planning team for the UK Google Hardware part of the business, namely servicing the Pixel brand. There will be the opportunity to develop involvement with wider parts of the Google business and advance learning within other disciplines

Requirements of the role:

  1. Develop and display an expertise on the brand and category we work on; especially consumer behaviour in this space and how comms can impact this
  2. Feeding into and delivering insight led, actionable media strategies in response to client briefs
  3. Inputting into proactive, longer-term thinking and comms-led problem solving outside of campaign responses.
  4. Work seamlessly with the wider strategy team and agency. Engage and consult with Comms Planning and Comms Strategy leads as needed, as well as Planning, Creative Futures, or Analytics.
  5. Help set direction for development of more junior team members.
  6. Support in raising the profile of the Strategy discipline within the agency

What we are looking for:

4/5 years of experience within a related role

An obvious passion for finding truths about people, communications and brands.

Proven history of gathering data; the capacity for rigorous analysis and shaping insights

Proven understanding of the consumer journey, how consumers engage within the category & related barriers to purchase, and how this leads to smart Comms and Media solutions.

Experience in challenging or trying to help clients think and behave differently in comms

Creativity in finding new ideas and solving client problems, with one eye on accountability.

The ability to think & plan across a paid, owned, earned channel ecosystem

Expertise in media and the roles channels can play, as well as latest developments.

Working knowledge of Strategy tools; TGI, GWI, Mintel, as well as developing knowledge of how partner tools can be leveraged for data and insights

The ability to work in an integrated way with a wider agency roster

An idea for where you think the industry is going

Flexibly around presenting your work to clients, and willingly providing others with the input to do the same
