Objective of the Role:
GroupM is the world’s largest media investment company and are a part of WPP. In fact, we are responsible for one in every three ads you see globally. We are currently looking for a Risk and Compliance Manager to join us. In this role, you will be working under the guidance of the Director to ensure that WPP policies and procedures are adhered to, and advise on actions required to meet objectives, supporting the implementation of agreed solutions and the monitoring progress made. You will also be working very closely with GroupM Services’ Leads and commercial, supporting and assisting market process improvements. Reporting of the role: Market CFO

In 3 months:

• Familiar with the WPP’s Control framework, key WPP and GroupM policies.
• Detail review of the Compliance reporting submission from the markets assigned.
• Review the appropriateness of the markets’ remediation on past Internal audit findings, work with the market to have proper closure in the system.
• Perform independent review of Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) documentations on markets assigned to ensure effectiveness on the ICFR controls.
• Work closely with markets to ensure compliance with WPP and GroupM processes and procedures.

In 6 months:

• Monitor and provide guidance in implementing an effective ICFR with the markets assigned.
• Provide guidance to the market on risk & controls matters.
• Coordinate management responses and action plans for internal audit issues
• Manage and participate in the opening and/or closing meeting with outsourced ICFR / SOX auditor.
• Perform periodic training to assigned markets to ensure process adherence to ICFR standard. Effectively coordinate with the process owners to implement process controls and documentation requirements and implement corrective actions to plug control gaps.
• Liaise with Regional Risk and Control team regularly for control & compliance updates.
• Assist in facilitating the periodic process review on GMS (GroupM Services) function to identify process improvement in line with ICFR requirement, provide solutions and ensuring the local process is kept up to-date.

In 12 months:

• Work with the market on the annual Business risk exercise and Declaration of Interests
• Be the first point of contact on assigned market queries on risk & controls matters.
• Establish strong working relationships with key stakeholders at markets assigned, regional level.
• Closely work with IT in system enhancement projects, Coordinate and prepare user requirement specification and facilitate transformation process - Manual to Automation

What you will need:

• Degree holder in Accounting/ Finance
• At least 6-7 years of relevant experience in SOX/ ICFR, internal/external audit and compliance, prior experience in the Big 4 companies will be an added advantage.
• Excellent command of written and verbal English communication skills
• Ability to communicate in Mandarin will be an added advantage.

Note that this is a hands-on role, supporting and coaching the agency trading heads on a regular basis, sometimes daily communication/supervision is required. Building solid and sustainable relationships with all key online and offline media vendors is critical.
