Overview of job

In this role, you are expected to provide finance leadership to support business decisions through deeply understanding the business and its issues and providing financial insights and business analysis for financial planning, and forecasting. In addition, you will continuously work to strategically expand, preserve or improve the company’s procedures, standards or policies while sticking to business edicts and regulatory guidelines. You will be collaborating and communicating proactively with finance team, agency team and management members including regions and global team members.

Measures of success –

In three months:
 
  • Understand GroupM’s business and finance structure
  • Create a Forecast / Budget P&L
  • Working closely with accounting team and prepare Monthly variance analysis report of Actual vs. Budget / Forecast
  • Create Client profitability report
  • Preparation of client reporting to Regional / Global commercial/finance team
  • Respond to requests from regional finance/agency commercial team
  • Ad hoc business support (reporting, client audit / internal audit, etc.)
  • Consider and execute work process efficiency
In six months: 
  • Be conversant with Agencies/GroupM’s Legal / Finance Structure
  • Build and maintain connection with key internal stakeholders
  • Monitor Net sales/FTEs/expenses and work with stakeholders to consider improvement of profitability
  • Support Forecasting/budgeting exercise in partnership with stakeholders
  • Lead preparation of forecast/budget P&L. Manage progress of reporting to meet the submission deadline to the Japan EXCO and regional finance team
  • Lead preparation of monthly financial reports for the EXCO members
  • Lead preparation of Monthly variance analysis report of Actual vs. Budget / Forecast and report to regional finance team
  • Responsible for various client reporting
In 12 months: 
  • Provide financial insights and business analysis to meet the financial targets and drive business decisions while improving processes
  • Support client pitches and growth strategies involving external opportunities for Japan market in partnership with Regional/Global and Japan Agency teams
  • Join and support various project
Responsibilities of the role: 
Act as a FP&A Manager of the Commercial finance team 
  • Lead preparation of forecasting/ budgeting P&L and meet the submission deadlines
  • Lead preparation of monthly financial reports for the EXCO members
  • Lead preparation of Monthly variance analysis report of Actual vs. Budget / Forecast and report to regional finance team
  • Monitoring of business gap (Net sales/FTEs/expenses)
  • Provide financial insights and business analysis to meet the financial targets
  • Support profitable growth of agencies
  • Build out a strong operation process
  • Work closely with management team to deliver year on year growth targets
  • Assist in pitches
  • Responsible for various client reporting
  • Corresponds to the newly requested adhoc reporting
  • Quarterly update of overhead multiplier and charge out rates
  • Support client financial audit
  • Join and support various project
  • Manage 1 junior staff
 What you will need: 
  • 5-10 years of experience with strong finance and FP&A or Commercial finance background (Commercial finance, FP&A or Management accounting, leading financial closing and reporting at a Global company)
  • Proactive, self-starter, consider and implement improvements of operating process
  • Working closely with commercial finance director, CFO, agencies and clients leads and accounting team
  • Good people management skill
  • Sharp, action orientated and able to sell ideas convincingly
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability in interpreting performance trends and taking proactive action
  • Experience in Media / Advertising industry will be an added advantage
  • Experience of working in successful fast paced business is preferable
  • Comprehensive understanding of key elements of route performance (both commercial and operational)
  • University graduation or above
