Role Overview:   
Residing in our Strategy & Planning team, the APD helps evolve briefs into recommendations through (in no particular order) budgeting, audience selection, channel/platform ecosystem selection, creative design recommendation, cross channel media planning and measurement framework.   
  
You will be involved up front in client planning and ensure that all recommendations and campaign executions deliver growth to our clients’ businesses.  You will have a thorough understanding of the breadth and depth of EssenceMediacom’s product offering, and effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to constantly bring effective and innovative solutions to our clients.   
  
Whilst execution is not in the day-to-day deliverable, understanding the total landscape is crucial and helping more junior team members be empowered to deliver this. As a senior role in our agency, you will be guiding team members to deliver brilliant basics.  
  
PEOPLE  
  • Organises self to deliver client work that consistently meets or exceeds the clients and EssenceMediacom’s expectations in line with agency processes.
  • Supports the client team with thought leadership and provides a level of training to our juniors around implementation planning 
  • Developing younger talent, though informal mentoring and coaching
  • Guiding the teams to understand the role of channels within a brief and coach them through responses.

PARTNERS  
  • Drives the delivery of high-performance plans to clients, ensuring they feel excited about their campaign delivery and beyond.
  • Builds deep and influential client relationships with the right people, facilitating a highly valued EssenceMediacom relationship. 
  • Provides clients with a well-informed POV at all times (across category, media and marketing etc).
  • Develops strong and influential relationships with counterparts (and other relevant people) at partner agencies.
  • Understands the client category intrinsically and can translate insights into media outcomes.

PRODUCT  
  • Ability to lead and translate a strategy/channel recommendation into a business results focused implementation plan.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the EssenceMediacom planning philosophy and process framework and follows it as relevant to deliver the required client output.
  • Leads digital planning delivery.
  • Supports the BD/ABD in the development and delivery of annual strategic account plans for clients, supporting in areas of progression in work quality, process, collaboration, and commercial return.
  • Ensures quality and timely work output across the set client portfolio, to specifically meet clients’ business requirements as relevant.
  • Embeds a culture of test and learn within our digital planning output, using data and insight to guide next steps.

PROFIT  
  • Supports the client teams and HoSP in driving incremental and organic opportunities for EssenceMediacom across the client portfolio (based on client business needs).
  • Contributes to new business projects as required.
  • Pulls in the right product to meet client’s needs across our product offering

Knowledge and skills  
  • 5+ years’ media agency experience
  • Strong knowledge of the NZ media market
  • Strong people leadership experience
  • Significant knowledge of the total media environment and the changing communications landscape
  • Developing commercial acumen
