The Role

This new role sits in the Data Intelligence Team, within the Data Development Group, to manage relationships with its Market and Reference data suppliers. The team is the key interface between external vendors and internal consumers of data.

 

The firm is a well-established, significant consumer of data products and is investing heavily to further expand its reach. The role requires building relationships across diverse market participants, from blue-chip firms to FinTechstart-ups. It will offer exposure cutting-edge technologies in a high growth industry, with opportunities to learn about systematic investing and big data development in an innovative and forward-thinking firm.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day relationships with data providers to ensure active data feeds run smoothly.
  • Become a hub for both inbound and outbound requests related to current market data feeds; answering directly where possibly or triaging to relevant parties and coordinating and compiling replies.
  • Proactively engage with vendors to keep abreast of any changes and enhancements to current feeds and ensure that information is disseminated to the relevant teams in a timely manner.
  • Gather feedback on market data products from key parties across the firm and review relevant points with vendors; ensure vendors are actively engaging with the company’s requirements.
  • Curate relevant research and technical documentation to ensure the body of knowledge on market data feeds is up to date, accurate and accessible.
  • Contribute to initiatives across the Data Development Group to improve the firm’s data ecosystem.
  • Manage contract lifecycle and documentation; coordinate Finance and Legal responses to vendors.
  • Conduct industry research to identify new initiatives in market data.

 

 The Individual

 

Financial and Technical Knowledge

  • A deep knowledge of financial market data
  • An understanding of data delivery mechanisms, infrastructure and data feed formats, including real-time tick data, reference data, news and analytics.

Project Management

  • Must be able to show evidence of strong organizational skills.
  • Experience of managing complex relationships involving multiple products and stakeholders.

Commercial

  • An understanding of the value and cost/benefit structures of data sources.
  • Experience in managing contract lifecycles and providing feedback on commercial terms and service-level agreements to suppliers.

Relationship management

  • Confident, with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Able to proactively build and manage multiple diverse internal and external relationships.
  • Experience in dealing with: Exchanges, Traditional Data Vendors, Alternative Data Vendors and Brokers.

Analysis

  • Ability to handle and manipulate large data sets to draw accurate and insightful conclusions.
  • Strong Excel skills; knowledge of database structures and some experience writing and manipulating SQL queries to extract relevant data.
