The company is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join the Network Engineering team in the IT engineering group. The group is responsible for the company’s technical infrastructure. 

The Network Engineering team is responsible for the company’s global network infrastructure covering office, datacenter and colocation sites.  The team is fairly small but has project work covering a broad scope, requiring elegant solutions to challenging problems. 

The role will mainly center on network related projects. The role will cover the following key areas:

  • Researching and evaluating new network technologies and designing and implementing network solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Defining new solutions in code to facilitate automated deployment and continuous enforcement of policy and design principals.
  • Managing the network elements of major projects to deploy new or upgrade existing infrastructure.
  • Working closely with other business units on a number of projects such as measuring network performance and implementing network security.
  • Designing solutions for and implementing network interconnects to allow the business to utilize services provided by third party trading partners and data vendors.
  • Acting as the escalation point for the Network Operations team who are responsible for the day-to-day support and troubleshooting of the network infrastructure.
  • Performing investigations into both network and general infrastructure problems using network monitoring and analysis tools.
  • Working closely with the Network Operations team on installation, configuration and maintenance of (mainly) Cisco and Arista network equipment.
  • Liaising with datacentre co-location providers, network equipment suppliers and network service providers.
  • An out-of-hours on call element (based on a rota) will also form part of the role.

The role requires close interaction and project work with the Application, Market Data, Database, Datacentre, Storage, Linux and Windows Infrastructure teams so there is a broad exposure to a variety of enterprise products and technologies.
