The Role

The Technical Operations team at G-Research is tasked with maintaining the overall operational integrity of the firm's research and execution platform. This multi-faceted remit involves preserving the on-going stability of a complex distributed system, whilst simultaneously driving it forward to unlock further upside.

As a Technical Operations Analyst, you will:

  • Work closely with researchers, developers and engineers to test and refine new features before overseeing their deployment to the production environment.
  • Provide comprehensive support covering all aspects of the overall production platform.
  • Contribute ideas with regard to platform monitoring, performance, resiliency and scalability and implement these in conjunction with the firm's development and engineering teams.
  • Offer cross-platform consultancy to specialist teams requiring visibility and advice on components outside of their primary domain.
  • Ensure that the direction of software and infrastructure development remain well-aligned with business goals and workflows.

The Technical Operations team is expanding in order to take on more responsibilities and greater platform ownership. The role represents an excellent opportunity for skilled and motivated candidates, excited by the challenge of maintaining a full end-to-end automated investment platform.

The Individual

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • At least two years of experience in a technical discipline and strong core skills in Python (or other scripting language), SQL, Windows OS as well as a solid understanding of software deployment and support practices.
  • Working knowledge of object-oriented programming, development pipelines and distributed systems architecture.
  • Confidence to learn a brand-new platform from an operational perspective and translate observations into low-level technical diagnoses.
  • Acuity to maintain constant awareness of technical developments across multiple domains and continuously assess their likely production impact in both isolation and tandem.
  • Interest in financial markets and financial market theory.
