IT Engineering Manager

The Role


The firm is undergoing a period of significant growth and change and IT is critical to meeting these ambitious plans. As a result we have created a new management role which will take responsibility for the IT Engineering function, reporting into the Head of IT.  We are looking for an experienced manager to provide both technical and supervisory oversight of six IT Engineering teams. Each of these teams consists of a manager and engineers and focuses on a core part of the infrastructure. These include, but is not limited to, networking, databases, storage and Windows/Linux engineering.


The responsibilities include:


  • Providing leadership, direction and hands-on involvement on business driven initiatives
  • Co-ordination of the IT Engineering teams, through your managers, and ensuring the teams are working in a coherent fashion and towards the business goals
  • Oversight of cross-team projects and dependencies
  • Assisting in managing the financial aspects of the IT Group, including purchasing, contract negotiation and budget review
  • Communicating regularly with senior management and all users of the IT Services
  • Utilising Management Information to drive decisions across the teams and to quantitatively measure performance and quality
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement in our workflows/processes and implementing solutions to increase efficiencies 


The Individual


You will have a deep technical IT knowledge with at least ten years’ experience in the industry. You will also have the following:


  • A broad IT infrastructure understanding
  • Ability to communicate effectively with infrastructure subject matter experts
  • Proactive and positive approach
  • Proven management track record
  • Experience of managing large IT transformation programmes
  • Strong people management skills
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • Ability to engage and influence at senior management levels
  • Experience of managing significant IT budgets
