Technical Writer

Technical Innovation London, United Kingdom

G-Research is going through an exciting period of growth and transforming the way we run and build our technology platforms. As part of this transformation we have crafted a Technology Innovation Group (TIG).

TIG uses a combination of commercial cloud environments such as AWS and an innovation lab with on premise infrastructure to quickly explore and assess new technologies. Activities include evaluating new hardware and software, assessing new big-data and analytics design patterns and working with the business building proof-of-concepts and prototypes. We look at all kinds of technology from new development and analytics environments to novel data-stores, containerisation, parallelisation, machine learning and hardware including new server, storage, and network variants as well as new kinds of software and compute technology.

Who we are looking for?

You will be working in the TIG:

  • Writing technical summaries of new technology features.
  • Writing-up technology Proof of Concept projects in a consistent, intelligible and searchable way.
  • Documenting technical procedures to make Innovation Lab services robust and repeatable.
  • Editing the Technology Innovation Group News Letter and contributing articles on tech POCs and trends.
  • Support creation of senior management briefings.
  • Engaging in dialogue with developers, system engineers, and system owners around the firm to understand the jobs-to-be-done, key needs and deficiencies or constraints of current technology.
  • Conducting research into new technology innovations in industry and assessing their potential applicability to different parts of the firm and different parts of our platforms.
  • Tracking technology innovations that are considered promising but not yet mature enough for adoption or not yet relevant due to internal reasons.
  • Writing and maintaining user guides for the innovation lab environments.
  • Writing presentations to showcase new technologies and what they are capable of.

Your skills

  • You will have a background in technology, be passionate about new technology innovation, and able to write in a clean concise way that meets the needs of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You will be familiar with modern agile software development techniques and technologies commonly used in modern high performance, distributing or cloud computing.
