Position at Gogo Commercial Aviation

This position will lead a team of professionals dedicated to managing the performance of and relationship with a variety of business-critical suppliers. One team member will focus on LRU suppliers, another on Kitting suppliers, and a third on Professional Services suppliers. A fourth team member will provide data analytics support for the team, as well as for the Procurement organization. This role must be equally comfortable managing both external suppliers as well as internal Gogo co-workers to drive best possible outcomes for Gogo. This manager will work closely with Aircraft Design and Certification Engineering, Aircraft Operations and Installations, Logistics/Warehouse Operations, Quality, Procurement, Demand Planning, Purchasing, and Project Management teams to provide leadership in achieving business objectives including: end to end supplier management, supporting vendor selection, supporting contract negotiations, leading relationship management, management escalations, feedback/KPI management and contract compliance. This position is instrumental in Gogo’s overall strategy to provide operational excellence and quality products and services to all of its customers.

Responsibilities 

  • Manages supplier relationships post-contract, while playing a key advisory role with Procurement and Legal during the contracting phase
  • Works with management and executive leadership to design and implement a relationship strategy for each supplier
  • Creates and maintains detailed Supplier Scorecards, with appropriately frequent progress reviews and Quarterly Business Reviews
  • Manages the day-to-day tactical operations of each Supplier’s support for Gogo
  • Supports the escalation process, and actively engages in ongoing capacity assessment and manages the workload award process across suppliers (including interfacing with Gogo’s Demand Planning team)
  • Will engage in tactical negotiations on a day-to-day basis with Suppliers, engaging Procurement for broad contractual issues
  • Works with Finance to support monthly close, quarterly guidance, and annual and long-term planning processes.
  • Support Procurement’s Supplier Selection efforts
  • Build and maintain strong strategic partnerships with vendors to ensure that service quality, on time delivery and service levels are met.
  • Manage vendor communications and consistently provide vendor performance feedback and resolve complex issues.
  • Drive and measure quality improvements in supply chain. Lead Supplier Management reviews, monitor KPIs and supplier risk levels.
  • Facilitate communications between external vendors and various internal departments to resolve any queries or issues that may arise. Escalation point in supplier relationships.
  • Analyze total cost of ownership and understanding the underlying cost drivers.
  • Lead the implementation of cost reduction initiatives to maximize savings.
  • Communicate to stakeholders to operationalize contracts and manage contract compliance
Requirments:
  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA in business discipline is preferred
  • 15+ Aerospace experience in supplier management, procurement, or quality control.
  • Strong leadership and problem solving skills with track record to meet deliverables and project deadlines.
  • Strong negotiations and influential skills.
  • Persuasive and excellent communicator (oral and written) with vendors and company top management.
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinker. Ability to turn raw data into actionable insights and direction.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office with high ability in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and program management
  • Experience in developing and implementing vendor qualification
  • Knowledge of quality and business systems
  • Commercial and financial acumen
  • Significant experience with cross functional management
  • Report and Procedure writing with excellent presentation skills
  • Basic understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment
  • Ability to present data effectively
  • Numerically astute with strong problem-solving skills and expertise to develop and execute objectives for self and others and the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goal
