Position at Gogo Business Aviation

The Gogo Business Aviation Network Field Engineer is a strategic part of Gogo Cloud. You will be responsible for conducting site surveys, installing and configuring servers and access points, supporting Gogo products in the field, and ensuring that our network deployments maintain the highest standards.


How will you make a difference?

  • Conduct site surveys
  • Create RF models based on real-world measurements
  • Create predictive RF models
  • Recommend the optimal installation and configuration of all network deployments.
  • Optimize server configurations for reliability and performance
  • Optimize access point configurations for reliability and performance
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for network deployments
  • Assist with characterizing areas to optimize network performance
  • Assist with troubleshooting networking issues
  • Train Tier 1 support staff at deployment sites to be self sufficient
  • Work closely with procurement to ensure the correct hardware is used for network deployments.
  • Maintain working relationships with procurement and Tier 1 support staff to promote efficient troubleshooting practices
  • Integrate access point monitoring software into the current service operations architecture
  • Ensure portable testing equipment is up to date
  • Execute validation tests to verify the quality and performance of network deployments
  • Assist with writing and executing tests to characterize network deployments.
  • Assist with characterizing network security requirements and deployment
  • Work within an Agile development framework


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering or equivalent work experience. 
  • 1+ year’s experience working with wireless technologies
  • 3+ year’s experience installing and configuring Linux-based servers.
  • 3+ year’s experience in IP routing and networking optimization.
  • 3+ year’s experience providing Tier 1 or 2 support
  • Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally is required. 

Required Skills, experience and talents

  • Very familiar with using and configuring Linux, Windows 7+, and Mac OSX. 
  • Intermediate understanding of 802.11 technologies.
  • Basic understanding of security technologies.
  • Experience using Air Magnet and/or a spectrum analyzer a plus.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working within an Agile development framework a plus.
  • A proficient background in IP, TCP, UDP, DHCP, and other telecommunication technologies is required.
  • Intermediate skill using the Microsoft Office suite of tools. 
  • Ability to be flexible and to maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to communicate extremely well within a team-oriented environment.
