The Gogo Business Aviation Manager of Product Quality will be responsible for overseeing and managing our Product Quality Engineering, Failure Analysis Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Inspection team members.  This senior level position is part of the Quality team and works as an integrated liaison with the Product Development teams. This role is critical to defining and ensuring end-to-end quality throughout the product development lifecycle. You will own the effective implementation and management of the “zero defect” strategy for Gogo Business Aviation that drives profitability and customer satisfaction!

The right candidates is a self-starter with direct and proven experience in design engineering, product and process development, physics of failure, improvement and cost savings and has a foundation in quality and reliability engineering.

How will you make a difference?

  • Manage responsibility for Product Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, and Inspection.
  • Serve as an individual contributor to all cross functional product development teams
  • Work to define industry accepted product and system quality and reliability targets,
  • Integrate and ensure delivery of cross departmental requirements into Gogo’s new product development process from concept, design, implementation and testing through sustaining
  • Work in collaboration with department manager, direct reports, Customer Quality & Reliability and Finance teams to define projects that eliminate the cost of poor product quality (both internal and external failures) through an integrated and disciplined approach aligned with the Gogo Business Aviation strategy
  • Responsible for achieving overall Quality goals (zero defects) for procured direct materials and customer shipments
  • Gather relevant information and data in order to solve quality-related problems by identifying and applying solutions from acquired technical experience and guided precedents
  • Serve as the primary interface for the Quality team to Product Management, Program Management, Development Engineering, Production Operations and Supply Chain teams leaning on personal and direct report technical expertise to ensure effective resolution of internal concerns and issues
  • Defines and implements procedures, specifications and standards for Gogo products and processes as appropriate



  • BS or MS degree in in mechanical, electrical, computer science or software engineering
  • 10+ years of combined experience in development and/or sustaining engineering (electrical, mechanical, software) and quality assurance operation
  • 5+ years of direct personnel management with engineering and/or quality assurance teams
  • Candidate must be comfortable with 15% domestic and international travel


Required skills, experiences and talents:

  • Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining certified ISO 9001 and / or AS9100 Quality Management System
  • Understand basic metrology tools and inspection methods
  • Practical knowledge and ability to interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and electrical and electronics diagrams
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings to ANSI Y14.5 and ANSI Y32.2
  • Effective demonstration of hands-on experience in engineering design, manufacturing and process capability analysis
  • Understand the application of risk analysis techniques including Design Failure Modes & Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
  • Experience in effectively leading others through structured problem-solving exercises
  • Strong data analytics skill set utilized to drive required changes, both internally, and with external providers
  • Leadership acumen with the ability to recognize and be the catalyst that cultivates innovative thinking in and across teams
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work and communicate with all cross functional departments
  • Strong attention to detail, follow through, and organizational skills with focus to deliver against deadlines
  • Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development. Responsible for your staff and their success and for the success of the team as a whole

Preferred skills, experiences and talents:

  • American Society of Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer certification preferred
  • Direct experience in effectively integrating Quality Management System principles into business management processes for new product development and /or supplier quality engineering is preferred
  • Previous work experience in avionics and/or aerospace industries is HIGHLY preferred
