Position at Gogo Commercial Aviation

This position is responsible for developing and managing the overall supplier relationship. This will include leading both the long term planning activities and day to day tactical deliveries. The individual will be the primary interface between the supplier and internal Gogo stakeholders such as Engineering, New Product Introduction team members, Procurement, Purchasing, Quality, Program Management and Supply Chain Operations. This position will be centrally critical to manage supplier deliveries for new products and for production deliverables. Managing schedules and serving as an escalation point will be additional key activities. Responsibilities will include supporting issues with current production, developing new suppliers to reduce cost, assessing and developing supplier capacity, managing on-time delivery performance and auditing suppliers to ensure process conformance and improvements.

Job Functions

  • Manages supplier relationships post-contract, while playing a key advisory role with Procurement and Legal during the contracting phase
  • Manage & track the supplier scorecards and supplier’s performance indicators, based on their scorecards and rankings, to facilitate and develop the supply base’s ability to consistently meet or exceed defined expectations and to deliver value.
  • Organize and run supplier progress meeetings and quarterly business reviews.
  • Manages the day-to-day tactical operations of each Supplier’s support for Gogo
  • Supports the escalation process, and actively engages in ongoing capacity assessment and manages the workload award process across suppliers (including interfacing with Gogo’s Demand Planning team)
  • Will engage in tactical negotiations on a day-to-day basis with Suppliers, engaging Procurement for broad contractual issues
  • Works with Finance to support monthly close, quarterly guidance, and annual and long-term planning processes.
  • Support Procurement’s Supplier Selection efforts
  • Build and maintain strong strategic partnerships with vendors to ensure that service quality, on time delivery and service levels are met.
  • Manage vendor communications and consistently provide vendor performance feedback and resolve complex issues.
  • Drive and measure quality improvements in supply chain. Lead Supplier Management reviews, monitor KPIs and supplier risk levels.
  • Facilitate communications between external vendors and various internal departments to resolve any queries or issues that may arise. Escalation point in supplier relationships.
  • Assess supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capacity and fulfillment ensuring suppliers are able to meet requirements for performance, quality, cost and delivery and other applicable customer and internal system and reputation requirements
  • Assist with new product launch by working with suppliers to ensure that key milestones are achieved
  • Drive product improvements from engineering & quality through suppliers and managing the product continuous improvement cycle.
  • Investigate supply chain disruptions and utilize resources across Gogo to collaborate with suppliers to resolve process and technical issues and provide project management as required to ensure resolution.
  • Write reports and present progress at project meetings
Education:  Bachelor’s degree. MBA in business discipline is preferred

Experience:
7-10 years of supplier manufacturing/development experience required. Aerospace experience in quality, engineering, manufacturing, operations is a plus

  • Experience in Sourcing, supplier management and program management
  • Knowledge of quality and business systems
  • Commercial and financial acumen
  • Vast experience with cross functional management
  • Report and Procedure writing with excellent presentation skills
  • Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings
  • Understanding manufacturing processes
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment
  • Ability to present data effectively
  • Numerically astute with strong problem-solving skills and expertise to develop and execute objectives
  • Be able to travel 25% - 50%
