The Regional Airline Program Manager will manage the local technical aspects of program delivery to all airlines in region.  This includes project plans, resources, technical co-ordination and system management.

This position will interface directly with the Airline APM focals along with Gogo Airline Partners and requires someone with track record of interfacing with airlines on large, complex technical programs from concept through delivery in a rapidly changing fast paced environment. Managing leadership and team expectations is key skill for success in this role and in ensuring that the end product sees successful completion.  This position will work closely with Gogo Airline Regional team and wider PMO team to ensure alignment and consistent communication to the Airline.   The ability to work remotely with cross functional teams in a matrixed environment is key.  Also, crucial is ability to identify and mitigate potential risks, ensure timely delivery and meet strategic objectives.

Integrating with fellow APMs and the wider regional team along with being a self-starter and operating with a high degree of flexibility is critical to the success of this role.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide regional local leadership support to the Airline Program Managers overseeing all local airline activities across the region.
  • Manage the system roll-out onto the fleet including installation support, Kit deliveries, hardware and software upgrade programs in totality and local project support.
  • Provide Certification oversight and configuration control duties to the airlines through Gogo internal and third party suppliers such as DOA’s
  • Supporting relationship with product team, Engineering, Technology, Operations, Account Management, finance, Legal, and other teams to manage interdependencies 
  • Primary local point of contact for active project customer and voice of the organization to customer on production programs and fleet/system management and upgrades.
  • Frame issues, leverage strategic priorities and drive project team toward the best path forward.
  • Hold regular cross-functional project meetings to review and update projects logistics, schedule, and objectives. Assure early problem identification and implementation of corrective action.
  • Participate in negotiation of contracts/changes, coordinate preparation of proposals, statements of work, request for proposals and proposal evaluation.
  • Establish and maintains a scope and Program Plan for each program/customer.Interpret, translate, and flow down program requirements into the Program Plan. Identify & manage risk and opportunities to meet program objectives. Monitor compliance with program master plans and schedules, including milestones and performance. 
  • Ensure all project plans are up-to-date and complete with respect to schedule, cost estimations, and status;
  • Lead negotiations with project participants and stakeholders on significant future improvements or changes., research lessons-learned, and best practices; 
  • Review project proposals and plans to determine technical practicality, funding limitation, business implications, procedures for accomplishing projects, resources requirements and technical coordination meeting, providing technical input as required. 
  • Provide timely reports to ensure an understanding of the project performance. Prepare interim and completion project reports.
  • Take a proactive stance by developing contingency plans for potential risk and identifying contingency plan deployment criteria to resolve potential problems
  • Ensure pertinent written records are maintained that document all agreements for the projects. 
  • Hold a high degree of flexibility to adapt to a role that will likely change over time.
  • Act as a deputy for Regional VP of PMO when required.

 

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field
  • 10-15 years of relevant work experience
  • 5-10 year of experience in managing Information technology or Engineering projects
  • 5-10 years aerospace/ airline program management experience
  • Knowledge of FAA Certification process is preferred.
  • Work experience with Agile development methodology is plus
  • Blend of airline, aerospace, Engineering and IFE/IFC technology experience is ideal
  • Extensive practical knowledge of project management theory, concepts, theory of constraints, critical path methodology project risk management, project scope management, project management lifecycle
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Practical problem solving and strategic thinking skills, critical thinker, and self-starter
  • Superior communications skills with all levels of employees and both internal and external customers-including presentations, negotiations, and written reports
  • Experience in both start-ups and consolidated companies is preferred
  • Ability to work in a fasted paced environment while maintaining view on the strategic direction and being as detailed as needed. Willing and able to get down in the details “to make things happen”
  • International work experience is plus
  • Domestic and international travel is required
  • Consultant work experience is plus
  • Working experience with AS9100 process/implementation, KPI and Performance Management metrics is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with demanding customers, difficult schedules and technically challenging projects
  • Travel is required.
  • Lead program teams composed of multi-disciplined, matrix personnel to ensure realization of program objectives
