As a Sr. Reliability Engineer at Gogo, the successful candidate will develop, implement and maintain reliability methodologies, systems and practices in order to fulfill business and industry requirements. They will provide reliability engineering support in the specification, design, manufacture and deployment of airborne hardware to ensure that the products and systems conform to established specifications and consistently meet or exceed the requirements of our customers. The individual must be self-motivated and eager to expand their existing knowledge of reliability engineering, and its application within the commercial airline industry.  This will entail working hand in hand with Engineering, Supply Chain, Aircraft Operations, Suppliers, Account Teams and Customers to ensure reliability performance is managed from a holistic point of view.

Scope:

  • Reports to the Senior Member of the Technical Staff, Reliability Eng.
  • Responsible for developing and executing the reliability plans for hardware products, including but not limited to; reliability modeling, assessments, predictions, test & validation methodologies, etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring that institutional cycles of learning are applied to future product development efforts.
  • Must fully understand the mission environment of these products and systems, such that both the product requirements and product validation processes are properly specified.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Reliability Management
    • Maintain & continually enhance the Reliability Planning and Management processes
    • Capture, document and institutionalize Reliability lessons learned
    • Develop and execute strategies to drive continuous reliability improvement within the business
    • Interface with internal teams to ensure the business has the necessary reliability information to make informed decisions as required.
    • Develop correlations between reliability test/validation performance and actual reliability field performance to enhance reliability prediction models
  • Support Product Realization efforts
    • Develop and execute product Reliability Plans that align with the needs of the business
    • Develop and execute reliability risk mitigation plans for issues discovered during the execution of the Reliability Plans
    • Develop and report the status of Reliability Risk for products throughout the product realization cycle.
    • Represent the Reliability team in product and system design reviews to ensure Reliability goals are met
  • Supplier Reliability Management
    • Ensure that Gogo’s reliability goals are understood by suppliers, and that they align with the Gogo’s goals.  Identify and escalate any observed alignment gaps.
    • Participate in supplier product development meetings to drive  and ensure product reliability goals are realized
    • Audit a supplier’s reliability assessment and validation capabilities
    • Manage supplier reliability risk mitigation actions

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science (preferred) in Reliability, Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering
  • 5+ years in Reliability, Quality, Process, and/or Supplier Engineering
  • Design for Reliability (DfR) work experience with electronics hardware applications in the commercial-airborne industry is preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred
  • ASQ CRE preferred

    • Reliability Prediction / Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF)
    • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
    • Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
    • Safety Assessment / Analysis
    • Reliability Test Methodologies (accelerated test, demonstration test, growth test, etc.); this includes determining test profiles, pass/fail criteria, and test objectives, as well as witnessing supplier testing to ensure validity.
    • Failure Review Board participation (supplier-based and customer-based)
    • Failure Reporting and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS)
    • Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM)
    • Environmental Stress Screening (ESS / HASS)
    • Practical experience of utilizing statistics and statistical methods to correctly analyze data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of management both internal and external to Gogo.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, and the ability to explain complex issues in simplified terms.
  • Proficiency with data manipulation and data analysis systems (MS Excel Pivot Tables, SQL, or similar tools).

Travel Requirements:

Domestic and international travel is a occasionally required of this position (up to 10%).  The ability to obtain a company credit card and passport is required for this position.
