At our Crowdstar studio in Burlingame, we believe that there is a huge opportunity in interactive entertainment products for women, and CrowdStar’s goal is to build products which engage, enrich and empower them.  

With our two top grossing titles, Covet Fashion and Design Home, CrowdStar has developed new ways for users (players) to enjoy fashion and interior design. Not only are we changing how women game, we’re also changing how they discover and shop for everything from clothing to shoes, or furniture to home decor. As a team we are passionate not only about creating fun and engaging games for women but enriching lives outside of the game.

Who you are

As the highly creative and multi-faceted Product Designer, you will shape the next generation of mobile experiences for Covet Fashion users. You will influence everything - the narrative that is presented to the player, the feature roadmap, and the next generation of social in-game experiences.  Your keen sense of free-to-play engagement loops are easily balanced with creating fun game play elements.  You can think beyond the features to the underlying player psychologies and motivations.  Your skills and insights come from having designed topical games for varying niches i.e. action, family, role playing etc.


We believe that design doesn’t happen in a vacuum, you will work closely with all the product stakeholders to push the envelope on female mobile entertainment.


You will

  • Research and design deep social engagement layers tailored to a specific audience and games
  • Help define and articulate player motivations
  • Partner with Art Directors to improve UI / UX, extracting the most out of game features
  • Work with the General Manager to help create a feature roadmap that moves the organization closer to achieving its vision
  • Research, validate, and iterate various features in the roadmap before they reach development
  • Design features targeting numerous key metrics i.e. early retention and long-term engagement
  • Design features, in-game, to extend the game's influence beyond the first screen and into the player’s daily lives
  • Think creatively and critically about all proposed changes to ensure success


Requirements

  • Experience designing a variety of topical games for either social games or apps
  • Experience designing product features on social platforms or in-game social features
  • Ability to consolidate design feedback and influence project outcomes
  • Strong ability to document features
  • Core knowledge of best design practices
  • Solid balance between “the big picture” and day to day
  • Strong empathy and knowledge of a female audience
  • An understanding of usability principles
  • UI/UX experience
  • An understanding of statistics and analytics
