The Role Involves:

Animating characters and cycles in the games.

Defining pose, timing, pacing and emotional content in the creation of animations.

Creating frameworks and assets.

Conducting specialized activities in the animation pipeline for assigned game content.

Animation activities may include:

Character animation

Look development

Character simulations


Visual effects

Animations may also include crowd, character or key animations.  Effectively uses development software and tools to create movement and style for assigned characters, scenes, interactions and events.

Scope Includes:

Creating a variety of key animations or technical assets for games

Creating the animations on schedule, typically without revisions

Ensuring the continuity and quality of assigned animations or frameworks

Leading Animators –

-       May serve as Art director to team

-       Engage in broader game play discussions on behalf of animators

-       May script tools

Meets assigned productivity goals

May work on development process; creates and revise prototypes for development discussions.

Works on semi-complex animated sequences or frameworks that significantly impact production.

Identifies and troubleshoots pipeline and workflow issues

Animates / frames key or defining elements of game

Effectively works with Unity 3D Engine

Demonstrates proficiency in most areas of the professional function and in-depth specialization in some.

Advanced animation / technical skills and thorough understanding of technical limitations related to production.

Serves as subject matter expert and "go to" person for guidance in one discipline.

Has in-depth knowledge of / skills in the content areas of:

-       2D and 3D animation and artistic skills

-       Creation of animation for digital entertainment; including pipeline planning

-       Expertise in several technical specialties of the animation pipeline

-       3D tools such as Maya, Z Brush

-       Other tools such as Unity, Illustrator, Flash, Photoshop

 Knowledge / Skills / Experience

Typically has 5 to 8 years of experience in game development.

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
