Creating art that inspires compelling gaming experiences for players.

• Collaborating with art lead within development team to visualize assigned game art elements such as look, feel, design, and colour and mood.

• Building character and environmental designs for game.

• Illustrating concepts in 2D through sketches and paintings both traditional and digital and provides visuals to development team.

The Role Involves:

Creating art that inspires compelling gaming experiences for players.

Establishing visual identity of game, the target look for the game within game design.

Collaborating with art lead within development team to visualize assigned game art elements such as look, feel, design, and colour and mood.

Building character and environmental designs for game.

Illustrating concepts in 2D through sketches and paintings both traditional and digital and provides visuals to development team.

Concept art specialties / activities include:

Creating colour concepts that may include marker sketches

Paintings and computer generated imagery.

Quickly fleshing out iterations of ideas / concepts for discussion and makes changes to concepts based on artistic input / story changes.

Transforming concepts into storyboards.

Conducting research to inform concept designs

Scope includes:

Leading the creation of new art concepts for any game style

Effectively defining art issues and proposes solutions

Providing in-depth feedback on assets created from concepts

Following art direction, meets technical and artistic standards

Decides and takes action regularly to have a moderate influence on the work of team members and other teams and assigned projects.

Mentoring and reviewing the work, and training less experienced personnel

Serving as a subject matter expert and "go to" person for guidance in one discipline.

In-depth knowledge of / skills in the content areas of: Technical tools such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash as well as Unity engine, designing, sketching and painting, working on Mobile games, and working in multi-disciplinary teams

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

Typically has 3 to 5 years of experience in creating digital arts assets for computer-based games.

A Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or equivalent.
