Game Server Engineer

The Game Server Engineer works in the GluPlay studio organization to develop advanced backend services and tools for high quality, social/mobile connected games. This individual will work closely with producers, designers, and other engineers to deliver rapid game development and robust live operations.  The successful candidate will have strong technical fundamentals, understand how to develop and run complex backend services, and have a passion for delivering delightful experiences to our players.

  • Code design, task estimation, implementation, and debugging of backend services.
  • Develop technology that enables and advances social/online features in our award-winning portfolio of games.
  • Optimizes the performance and reliability of our game services.
  • Contribute to advanced tech development and prototyping.
  • Effectively and frequently communicates with team members to ensure rapid iteration and highly efficient development.



  • Two (2) years professional programming experience working on mobile games with a backend component.
  • Two (2) years of experience developing REST web services
  • Two (2) years of professional programming experience using web technologies such as Ruby on rails, Jruby, and Python.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
  • Experience with Postgres or MySQL databases
  • Demonstrable knowledge of how to write optimized, maintainable, high quality code that supports a wide variety of hardware and platforms.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience with iOS development, Objective-C experience is a plus.
  • Experience working on a team that delivered a product(s) from inception to market.
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

  • Experience with social platforms and other backend services.
