Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on server lead that is an expert in server architecture and development and passionate about guiding the efforts of a stellar engineering group. You will manage a small tight-knit team of server, Dev Ops and web developers while helping to coordinate scheduling efforts, orchestrating system design and assisting with implementation. Our games are services and are continually being improved upon and support millions of players. Do not worry if you don't have games experience. If you have experience with mobile or web apps that are driven by a cloud infrastructure then we want to speak with you too.

Responsibilities

  • Define, architect, & develop scalable back-end components that coordinate well with client-side technologies
  • Develop, innovate & integrate new technologies and tools (including Web Admin Tool front-end functionality)
  • Architect & develop new (and extend existing) back-end architectures with PHP
  • Evaluate new cloud services to meet the requirements of the titles
  • Work with client team to harden back-end and client functionality
  • Scope large tasks, and systems, and assist with execution of non-critical path tasks
  • Ensure that our systems are built to scale and are secure
  • Oversight of monitoring and operation of our server systems to maximize uptime and resolve issues quickly
  • Mentor and develop the team and participate in code reviews
  • Identify and drive improvements in the technology base and development processes

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent education/work experience
  • 8+ Years industry experience developing software systems
  • 5+ Years experience with cloud solutions, and in particular, Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • 3+ Years industry experience as a Lead Software Engineer / Engineering Manager
  • Significant experience developing online services (REST APIs) for consumer facing applications
  • Expertise with scripting languages such as PHP or Python
  • Strong understanding of Dev Ops
  • Experience with front-end development technologies, such as Angular, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Strong team building skills and enjoy managing a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills collaborating with both technical and non-technical people

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g. DynamoDB, Cassandra)
  • Experience designing or operating applications in microservices architecture
  • Professional experience developing for social networks
