Description

The Product & Commercial Counsel will support several departments at Glu, including individual game development studios, user acquisition, advertising, business intelligence and user research

Responsibilities

  • Structuring, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements, including marketing and advertising agreements and license agreements with various brands and celebrities that are incorporated into Glu’s games.
  • Protecting and enforcing Glu’s intellectual property rights, particularly copyright and trademark rights.
  • Counseling game development teams on the licensing, consumer and privacy issues that arise from their early concepts, products in development and post-launch commercial exploitation.
  • Advising on privacy matters, including Glu’s GDPR compliance efforts.
  • Contribute to cross-functional teams as a trusted advisor, creative problem-solver, and strategic thinker.
  • Assisting on projects as needed, including potentially game promotion activities, litigation and mergers and acquisitions.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Substantive experience in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements.
  • Experience with, and a strong interest in, privacy matters, intellectual property licensing, protection and enforcement.
  • A JD and excellent academic credentials.
  • A member of a state bar, preferably California.

Bonus Points

  • Prior in-house experience, working with multiple and cross-functional teams, particularly at a publicly traded company.
  • Experience in mobile gaming, internet, software, new media and/or advertising law.
  • Significant privacy experience and/or training, such as CIPP certification.
