What you can expect: 

As a member of the Information Technology team working closely with colleagues throughout the organization, the UX / UI Engineer plays a key role in creating application user interfaces and presenting the Global Indemnity brand in a consistent and compliant manner, according to established standards and best practices. You will design human-centered, workflow-driven, and visually aesthetic digital products to support the strategic goals of GBLI.

What you will do:

  • In collaboration with graphic designers, UI specialists, web developers, and related personnel, help to improve the usability of websites through the implementation of design concepts
  • Work directly with stakeholders, team members, and end-users to convert concepts and requirements into intelligent designs and clickable prototypes
  • Create high-fidelity wireframes from business requirements following established design and architecture principles
  • Work within design systems for web and mobile application UI. Participate in updating the evolving design system, including shared design principles, assets, and patterns
  • Work through and implement all aspects of web design, including, but not limited to balance, contrast, emphasis, consistency, and unity
  • Work with the team to create and manage asset libraries, style guides, and design pattern libraries and provide guidance to developers in implementing styles
  • Create workflow and experience map diagrams from research data
  • Collaborate with external vendors to ensure UI and UX experience conform to GBLI graphic design and system behavior 
  • Collaborate with the team and gather feedback from stakeholders and end-users on design and functionality
  • Make certain that web designs integrate into program rules and system architecture
  • Stay abreast of modern technologies in the field to create innovative approaches for improving end-user experience

What we look for:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 4-6 years of professional experience in a similar role
  • Working knowledge of design tools (e.g. InVision, Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
  • Expert in responsive and adaptive design, wireframing and prototyping
  • Knowledge of scripting languages and stylesheet technologies (HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, Less, Sass)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of software accessibility and or WCAG accessibility standards
  • Familiarity with user research and analysis techniques
  • Ability to provide examples of UX process documentation and a portfolio of UI work
  • Experience with web platforms like WordPress and SharePoint preferred
