Position overview:

In this position you will be responsible for the expansion of the Agriculture (AG) sales team into new territories, strengthening of existing markets, enhancing the sale of all products; and assisting sales representatives with sales calls. Products may include but are not limited to agriculture production operations, equestrian operations, horse owner liability & farm management risk.

Essential functions:

  • Expand products and sales efforts into new territories to positively enhance the growth and profitability of the company; maintain production in existing markets
  • Develop sound marketing plans for AG products
  • Regularly visit agents to market the company’s products and services; establish relationships with new agents; monitor the production of existing agents and discuss opportunities for improvement.
  • Build and maintain broad competitive information on agriculture products
  • Develop targeted agency business and production goals
  • Assist Account Executives in increasing sales within his/her respective territories.
  • Review business production and make suggestions/recommendations as needed.
  • Work with Product Development/Management to create new AG products.
  • Monitor, develop and evaluate the performance of the team, with an emphasis on sales coaching
  • Assure compliance with human resources policies and procedures.

 Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of successful sales, sales management and business development in the commercial and/or personal lines property & casualty industries; experience with agricultural products a plus
  • Strong existing business relationships with regional wholesale agents; ability to foster new relationships essential.
  • Agency management experience through multiple agency plants (aggregators, captives, wholesale and retail agents) is required
  • Strong technical knowledge of various coverage lines (General Liability (GL), property, umbrella/excess)
  • The ability to coach and develop high performing sales staff is needed; prior management experience required
  • Broad knowledge of existing agriculture market trends and ability to use related data to enhance the segment’s business production efforts.
  • The ability to work remotely as needed through a VPN connection
  • High visibility in the market place with the ability to travel nationally on a regular basis (70%)
