This position is hybrid remote from either our Bala Cynwd, PA or Omaha, NE locations

This leadership position within our actuarial department, reporting to the Chief Actuary is responsible for the overall strategy, management and technical oversight of actuarial staff in support of adequate reserving and product line financials for all reserve segments within the organization. Provide counsel of the overall financial strength of multiple product lines to the Chief Actuary and Finance department. Interact with multiple departments and levels in the organization on reserving matters.

The Vice President , Actuarial Reserving is also responsible for people management for the reserving function including attracting, developing, engaging and retaining talent.  Manage and coach the team to achieve professional goals, annual objectives, as well as giving guidance and encouragement on exam progress. The position also assigns tactical and project work to staff and monitors progress accordingly.


Position & Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage the quarterly reserve analysis on casualty and property lines
  • Manage property reviews on a monthly basis
  • Responsibility for the reserve process to support Sarbanes Oxley requirements
  • Complete as well as review summary exhibits produced by staff for senior management
  • Produce Reserve Ranges forcore reserve segments
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from Claims and Underwriting


Requirements & Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or related field required.
  • At least 15 years of Property & Casualty actuarial experience
  • Completion of ACAS designation; active pursuit or attainment of FCAS
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to interact professionally and independently with multiple levels of management and other departments is essential
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate individuals
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data from a number of sources
  • Ability to build relationships throughout the enterprise to achieve business objectives
  • Ability to think critically to solve work related problems with creativity
  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft office and SQL required
