Audio/Visual Engineer
Description
Essential Functions:
- Manages, coordinates, and establishes priorities for audio/visual projects including but not limited to scheduling, end-user coordination, equipment installation or coordination, documentation, and configuration. Provides direction and guidance to project team members and monitors results.
- Manages inventory of equipment and supplies. Determines equipment to purchase for projects. Develops cost estimates and establishes budgets for projects.
- Researches and implements best practices to resolve equipment issues.
- Develops and manages audio and video plans for events.
- Programs Crestron audio/video systems.
- Creates and implements easy-to-use GUI (1 button push to start).
- Programs simple to complex audio/video control systems using proprietary software.
- Troubleshoots and fixes programming issues with existing control systems.
- Conducts installations and collaborates with construction team if required.
- Designs and implements innovative ideas for smart home automation technologies.
- Configures Internet Protocol (IP) camera to appropriate Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN).
- Develops and implements digital signage solutions.
- Integrates face recognition with access control systems.
- Designs, engineers, installs, and programs video wall systems.
- Configures Security Digital Video Recorders (DVR) and Network Video Recorders (NVR).
- Designs and studies blueprints, schematics, manuals, wiring diagrams, and other specifications to determine design and installation procedures.
- Identifies the strengths and weaknesses of multiple systems for the design; plans or modifies designs to minimize waste of materials; designs easy access for future maintenance and design with cost mitigation.
- Manages AV hardware and software to ensure equipment preparation for projects.
- Operates the master controls of the AV system during events.
- Maintains and troubleshoots hardware and software.
- Manages AV equipment including storage, transport, assembly, and disassembly.
- Develops and maintains AV equipment user guides.
- Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require at the direction of management.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Media or Audio Visual, a plus.
- Must have a valid California Driver's License
- Seven (7) years of experience in alarm or video security installation and AV installation.
- Experience in IP CCTV, Access Control, Alarm Tech, and Installation, a plus
- Hands-on experience with commercial AV products such as Creston, Extron, Biamp, Shure, QSC, Samsung, LG, Epson, Vaddio, Logitech, Poly, and Cisco.
- Experience with equipment racks and cable management.
- Basic understanding of Audio DSP concepts.
- Video over IP systems preferred.
- Familiarity with low-voltage installation best practices and safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced construction environments.
- Proficiency with basic hand and power tools used in AV installation.
- Avixia CTS or CTS-I certification preferred.
- Occasional travel required.
Pay Range: $85,000.00 - 110,000.00/yr
