The VP of Consumer Marketing will lead the growth and success of Glassdoors consumer marketing efforts, partnering closely with product marketing, design, corp comm/pr and B2B marketing. In this role, you will provide leadership, communicate strategic direction and direct the activities of the consumer marketing organization. Additionally, you will partner and engage with product leaders, analytics, business operations, and the executive team to develop strategy and execution to enhance contribution, increase efficiencies and drive consumer acquisition, retention and satisfaction.  This position reports to the Chief Marketing Officer.

You are the perfect mix of art and science in your abilities, instincts and execution.  You have a gut for great creative and mind for strategy, execution and measurement.  You will be responsible for cultivating a successful and effective Consumer marketing team. You will provide leadership, establish standards and objectives with respect to the hiring, onboarding, development, motivation, coaching and performance of marketing professionals within your team. You will guide and direct the work of the Consumer Marketing leaders to enable them to effectively lead their teams to achieve their objectives.  You will have extensive experience in brand advertising, digital advertising, email, campaign strategy, media strategy and ongoing evaluation and optimization of efforts.  Finally, we are looking for someone who can be strategic while also taking a hands-on approach to get things done.


  • Provide leadership and oversight of the consumer marketing team, guiding and encouraging team members to adapt, improve, and achieve their objectives
  • Develop and evaluate key performance metrics; provide CMO and senior leadership accurate summaries and analysis of campaigns, results and forecasts
  • Collaborate with other Marketing leaders to understand and implement campaign and other consumer initiatives
  • Provide strategic guidance, insight and knowledge about market trends, consumer attitudes, competitors and the effectiveness of the marketing strategy
  • Directly manage all paid advertising efforts including both direct response and brand advertising campaigns, running point on advertising, creative and other agency relationships as well as our online distribution network partnerships.
  • Foster continuous improvement; ensure that all marketing activities are efficient, effective and scalable
  • Ensure that business conducted within the marketing organization is of the highest ethical and professional standards
  • Foster a learning organization; leverage internal and external resources to provide opportunities for marketing teams to increase knowledge, preparedness and skills
  • Develop and maintain a regular communication cadence with all levels of the organization
  • Provide clear and regular communication to consumer marketing teams relative to company direction, performance and achievements
  • Keep marketing teams apprised of changing policies, competitive developments and industry/market trends


  • 15+ years of experience in marketing, with a major emphasis in consumer marketing focused on brand building, direct response advertising, email and social
  • 10+ years experience building, developing and managing marketing teams
  • Strong analytical skills, proven ability to consume and understand data, work with decision scientists and anlysts to get to clear results and analysis
  • Exceptional skill in verbal and written communications; must also be an excellent listener
  • Proven ability to successfully articulate and address complex business issues and opportunities
  • Skilled at promoting collaboration and driving problem resolution across all levels of a business including the c-suite
  • Bachelor's Degree required, MBA a plus
  • Travel (up to 20% in some months) required
