The VP of Advertising will lead the growth and success of Glassdoors advertising efforts, partnering closely with product marketing, design, corp comm/pr and B2B marketing. In this role, you will provide leadership, develop strategic direction and direct the activities of the consumer brand advertising efforts, including in house team members and external agencies. Additionally, you will partner and engage with product leaders, analytics, business operations, and the executive team to develop the strategy and execution to best leverage our brand advertising efforts to drive consumer acquisition, brand awareness, retention and satisfaction.  This position reports to the Chief Marketing Officer.

You are the perfect mix of art and science in your abilities, instincts and execution.  You are exceptional at the quant side of campaign design, execution, measurement, optimization and testing.  You love to get into the details and work with others to deeply understand what drives great results, campaign success and consumer insights. You will provide company level leadership as the subject matter expert in brand advertising, working to evangelize your efforts within the company to ensure readiness in all aspects of the product and marketing organizations.  You will establish standards and objectives with respect to the hiring, onboarding, development, motivation, coaching and performance of marketing professionals within your team. You will have extensive experience in brand advertising, media strategy, media buying, media optimization, campaign measurement, social media, and developing IMC’s cross functionally with product and marketing teams. Finally, we are looking for someone who can be strategic while also taking a very hands-on approach to get things done.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of the consumer advertising team, guiding and encouraging team members to adapt, improve, and achieve their objectives
  • Develop and evaluate key performance metrics; provide CMO and senior leadership accurate summaries and analysis of campaigns, results and forecasts
  • Collaborate with other Marketing leaders to understand and implement campaign and other consumer initiatives, including annual planning, strategy and operational development
  • Provide strategic guidance, insight and knowledge about market trends, consumer attitudes, competitors and the effectiveness of the marketing strategy
  • Directly manage all offline advertising efforts including creative development, testing, agency relationships and driving great results form external partners
  • Foster continuous improvement; ensure that all advertising activities are efficient, effective and scalable
  • Ensure that business conducted within the advertising organization is of the highest ethical and professional standards
  • Foster a learning organization; leverage internal and external resources to provide opportunities for marketing teams to increase knowledge, preparedness and skills
  • Develop and maintain a regular communication cadence with all levels of the organization
  • Provide clear and regular communication to consumer marketing teams relative to company direction, performance and achievements
  • Keep marketing teams apprised of changing policies, competitive developments and industry/market trends

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in marketing, with a major emphasis in consumer marketing focused on brand building, media strategy and brand building
  • You have overseen (directly reporting to you or part of your organization) significant creative campaign development, with proven results in multi-platform, multi-media campaigns
  • You have overseen (directly reporting to you or part of your organization) ATL brand campaigns, including positioning, creative development and media strategy
  • 10+ years experience building, developing and managing marketing teams
  • Strong analytical skills, proven ability to consume and understand data, work with decision scientists and analysts to get to clear results and analysis to drive optimization
  • Exceptional skills in verbal and written communications; must also be an excellent listener
  • Proven ability to successfully articulate and address complex business issues and opportunities
  • Skilled at promoting collaboration and driving problem resolution across all levels of a business including the c-suite
  • Bachelor's Degree required, MBA a plus
  • Travel (up to 20% in some months) required
