The Role

Glassdoor is looking for a strong technical leader to manage our Traffic and Engagement team. The team’s responsibility is to continually increase our already  fast-growing user base and ensure those users return to Glassdoor by creating engaging, high-quality user experiences.

Your Responsibilities

You will manage one or more agile engineering teams, working closely with Product on achieving strategic wins. You are a hands-on technical leader and will spend a fair amount of your time coding. You enjoy direct management responsibilities such as engaging the team, setting a high-bar for quality deliverables, unblocking tasks and helping your team achieve their short-term objectives and long-term goals.   

To be successful:

  • Partner with Product and other key business stakeholders to prioritize work and create amazing products and features.
  • Set the technical strategy, design  and standards for the team and ensure a collaborative environment where everyone contributes.
  • Manage the tactical strategy and planning to achieve frequent deliverables and quarterly
  • vision.
  • Hands-on development to support a cross-functional team that includes both front-end and back-end engineers setting an example for quality work.
  • Hire and mentor a strong engineering team.
  • Be part of the Glassdoor engineering leadership team by supporting and initiating continual improvement to our overall system architecture, process and tools.

Your Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of software development experience on large scale, high-volume sites using Java technologies (you still love rolling up your sleeves and coding alongside your team).
  • Proven success leading, managing, and hiring a team of talented engineers.
  • Proven success project managing technical deliverables in an agile environment
  • Experience with NodeJS , ReactJS/Redux or other front-end technologies
  • Experience with test driven development and automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience partnering with various business units.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
