The Role

Glassdoor is looking for a strong technical leader to manage our Traffic and Content development teams. These teams have different business focus but collaborate closely at a domain and platform level. The Traffic team is responsible for increasing our user base with a heavy focus on SEO and marketing initiatives. The Content team is responsible for  improving and supporting the reviews, salaries, benefits and interviews products that power Glassdoor.

Your Responsibilities

You will manage a small team of engineers that support many critical systems. Our teams have a mix of front-end and back-end engineers.  As a direct manager, you’ll focus on building and retaining the best team possible. You set a high-bar for quality deliverables and continual improvement. You are hands-on and spend a lot of your time coding and unblocking your team (including handling unforeseen production issues). Create a team culture of engaged, motivated individuals that work well together and create a world class product.

To be successful:

  • Partner with Product and other key business stakeholders to prioritize work and create amazing products and features.
  • Set the technical strategy, design and standards for the team and ensure a collaborative environment where everyone contributes.
  • Manage the tactical strategy and planning to achieve frequent deliverables and quarterly vision.
  • The capacity to be energized and excited by challenging objectives that is reflected in a drive to deliver. It includes executing actions in a focused manner, and pursuing a course of action to its logical conclusion
  • Hands-on development to support a cross-functional team that includes both front-end and back-end engineers setting an example for quality work.
  • Hire and mentor the best possible engineering team.
  • Be part of the Glassdoor engineering leadership team by supporting and initiating continual improvement to our overall system architecture, process and tools.

Your Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of software development experience on large scale, high-volume sites using Java technologies (you still love rolling up your sleeves and coding alongside your team).
  • Proven success leading, managing, and hiring a team of talented engineers.
  • Proven success project managing technical deliverables in an agile environment
  • Experience with NodeJS , ReactJS/Redux or other front-end technologies
  • Experience with test driven development and automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience partnering with various business units.
  • Confident, professional, and effective communicator (both verbally and in written form) that can work with all levels and departments in an organization and get his/her point across in a concise, articulate, and congenial way
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
