We are seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant with Big 4 public accounting or public company revenue accounting experience to be a key contributor to an exciting, fast-paced, high growth organization. We’re looking for someone with a positive attitude and a desire to help strengthen our revenue process to scale with the company’s long term goals. The candidate will have excellent revenue accounting, quantitative analysis and writing skills, and drives value in collaborating with other members of the team.

You will be integral to a thirteen person accounting and finance team and need to be an enthusiastic and hands-on individual who thrives in a fast-paced start-up/pre-IPO environment.  

Responsibilities:

  • Own transaction processing, monthly close and account reconciliations of revenue, deferred revenue, commissions and deferred commissions
  • Analyze and research technical revenue accounting matters, providing accurate and comprehensive documentation of issues identified and resolutions reached
  • Review sales arrangements to ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and GAAP.
  • Participate in the financial statement close process by preparing journal entries, reconciliations and other analysis as requested.
  • Perform VSOE/BESP analysis and determine the impact on revenue using the relative selling price
  • Collaborate with FP&A to analyze forecast versus actual revenue, deferred revenue, commissions, and deferred commissions
  • Partner with legal, sales and sales operations cross-functional teams to ensure quote to cash process functions smoothly and efficiently
  • Develop, implement and maintain desktop procedures for ongoing revenue accounting activities.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating internal documentation for revenue policies, desktop procedures and internal controls.
  • Provide support to the sales organization and finance/accounting teams in regards to revenue
  • Prepare schedules and collaborate with external auditors to support monthly reviews, quarterly audits and external reporting processes.
  • Review and document sales contracts for revenue recognition implications for review by Finance management.
  • Assist in implementation of ASC 606.
  • Special projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related area required
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 3-4 years of experience
  • Public accounting required
  • Public company experience preferred
  • In depth knowledge and working experience with ASC 605 and its application to SAAS, online media/advertising and multiple element arrangements
  • Strong excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.) and systems skills; ability to pick up financial accounting software quickly
  • A solutions-oriented team player who enjoys a dynamic team environment
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 desired
  • Working experience with commissions and deferred commissions desired.
  • NetSuite, RevPro and Salesforce experience preferred
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to exercise sound judgment and conduct research in dealing with complex accounting issues
  • IPO experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills, concise documentation skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
