Lead Software Engineer in Test, Mobile Products

Engineering Mill Valley, California

Description

Our mission is to help people everywhere find a job and company they love.  We are disrupting an industry by changing how people search for jobs and how companies recruit top talent.

We’re looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer in Test for Mobile Products. You will have the opportunity to join a small, energetic team building native apps with over a million active users. At Glassdoor you’ll have the freedom to leverage your intuition, creativity and expertise to help one of the top job apps in the world continue its rapid expansion.

About the Team

As a Lead Software Engineer in Test for Mobile, you will be working on a team focused on building Glassdoor’s native apps for Android and iOS as well as the supporting web services. Our Mobile Team is responsible for the design, execution and delivery of our feature rich Android and iOS Glassdoor applications. We release our apps regularly in short cycles that require careful coordination and an organized testing strategy. We utilize an agile Scrum process to manage our changes. You will work closely with the Product Owner and Mobile Engineers from the beginning of a sprint to final delivery. The team depends on continuous build cycles, automation, and manual testing of test-cases against multiple devices to ensure quality is maintained. We may utilize outside testing support as needed which you will help manage.

Responsibilities

Our ideal candidate will have experience providing quality support for Mobile Apps including both iOS and Android; working experience with mobile automation frameworks and continuous integration systems; and proven ability to organize, coordinate and manage the testing support for a release. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of QA best practices and a passion for quality. She/he will have a strong programming background including knowledge of design patterns.

As a late stage startup, we look for self-starters who thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment – which means wearing multiple hats, being able to change direction quickly, and showing an eagerness to learn new technologies as the need arises. In this role you work with a cross-functional, collaborative environment – so excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also a must. The ability to communicate effectively with the team as well as communicating with users via feedback emails will be critical. And most importantly – we look for people who can prioritize, multi-task, and deliver.

Skills and Requirements

  • Several years (4+) of testing native apps and building functional automation tests
  • Experience with native app automated test tools and frameworks
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work across team members as well as off-site support
  • Programming experience with Java or other object oriented languages
  • Expertise in QA best practices and how to create processes to drive quality in a product
  • Solid understanding of the software development life-cycle and Agile methodologies
  • Self-starter who is comfortable taking a task and delivering on it without lots of management
  • CS degree or equivalent experience
