Data forms the backbone of all of Glassdoor’s products. In many cases, data is the product. We have a world-class data engineering team and a platform that enables rapid decision making and machine learning at scale. Your charter will be to further the vision & usage of data and help build a data platform, tools and products that are innovative and transformational for our end users

The Role

In this role, you will work with all areas of the organization from Product to Marketing and Sales, so it offers an excellent vantage point from which to learn about and problem solve different business areas. You will be the Product Manager and owner of Business Intelligence, Data pipelines and services and machine learning data products. You will be responsible for working with all functional heads, analyzing their product and business needs and defining data solutions to empower them and will define, develop and deliver our data engineering product roadmap.

In this role, you will work with -

Data Engineers - we have some of the best talents in data engineering, like Steven, Sid among others. You will product manage this team and partner with them to deliver data products

Various product & business owners - you will work with product and business owners to learn about their business needs. You will define their logging needs and deliver reporting & decision making tools

Data Scientists & Analysts - you will work with a really sharp and innovative data science team, such as Ling among others, that is constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with our unique data

Here’s a sampling of projects you will work in the next few months -

  • Create a company wide AB test analytics platform
  • Understand business requirements and deliver an analytics data mart for our Marketplace team
  • Create a generic logging framework that will enable us to understand user pathing and actions throughout the site
  • Create a recommendations data product that recommends companies or jobs to a user
  • Create alerting algorithms & tools for our Client Services team to flag clients at risk of attrition or prospects that might be interesting in buying our products?
  • What access tools should we evaluate and choose for fast ad-hoc analysis of Big Data?

Requirements

  • Must have a deep passion for data and its applications to business
  • 5 - 10 years of progressive experience working within an Analytics or Business Intelligence environment, with deep know-how of both the technical and business aspects of data solutions
  • Extremely strong SQL skills and understanding of data modeling and data pipelines.
  • Must have experience with Hadoop and Big Data technologies desired
  • Strong product management skills and ability to inspire engineering teams. Knowledge and experience with agile development process a must
  • A strong voice for data integrity and reporting quality utilizing best practices and industry standards
  • Prior experience with front-end reporting & analysis tools – like Tableau, Looker, Spark, etc.
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
