The Role

Glassdoor is looking for a strong engineering leader to manage our Email & Notifications development team, responsible for delivering millions of communication each day. We build machine learned optimizations and tracking tools to provide engaging career related communication to our users while respecting their preferences. We strive to maintain 24x7 platform uptime which is leveraged by all teams, from engineering to marketing, to communicate with all Glassdoor users.

You will lead a highly talented team of engineers using open source technologies and frameworks to solve challenging problems around scale and performance. You will also be working closely with product managers, designers, marketing and other teams to drive engagement and growth.

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager of Engineering, you’ll focus on building the best engineering team, setting a high-bar for quality deliverables and continual improvement. You need to be hands-on to support your team with coding and unblocking by handling unforeseen production issues. You will create a team culture of engaged, motivated individuals that work well together and create a world class product.

Your Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of software development experience in highly distributed and scalable environment
  • Proven success leading, managing, and hiring a team of talented engineers
  • Proven success project managing technical deliverables in an agile environment
  • Experience working Java, RabbitMQ, and SQL technologies
  • Experience working in notifications delivery (Email, text, push notifications) a huge plus
  • Confident, professional, and effective communicator (both verbal and written)
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field.
