FYidoctors – Prince Albert is currently recruiting for a full-time Optometrist and we are offering a minimum guarantee for 5 days per week (Monday - Friday).
We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated, full-time Optometrist to join our long-established, full-service vision centre. Prince Albert 2nd Ave is a very busy, modern practice supporting 4 full-time doctors. In addition to the main practice in Prince Albert, we also operate a satellite clinic in La Ronge and several external clinics in various northern communities.
Our loyal patient base has been carefully established over 26 years through supporting local and far northern communities which presents a huge patient base and a fantastic opportunity for a new or established Doctor in this field. We have built strong working relationships with our local ophthalmologists to ensure great patient care.

Our practice has a dynamic and rewarding environment with 5 complete exam rooms. One is wheelchair accessible and available when needed. Each doctor has their own exam room for full-time use. Pretest includes two stations each with auto-refraction, non-contact tonometry, and lensometry providing the ability to practice with the very latest in technology including Optomap and OCT together with a Full Service Dispensary/Laboratory function. Currently, we have 4 doctors, an excellent team of 15 support staff, and a full-time practice coach/manager. Our practice operates Monday to Friday from 8:30 until 5:00 pm with no weekends or late evenings during the week.
The satellite clinic in La Ronge currently operates twice per month for 2 day trips requiring an overnight stay. We have a rented apartment above the clinic for convenience and comfort with all doctors and staff taking a regular rotation to provide this service. These are potentially very busy trips depending on how fully the doctor wants to be booked, with high patient demand and booking up to 6 months in advance. We see a large proportion of First Nation clients which gives the practice some unique dynamics including the opportunity for external clinics in fly-in communities. We also have a significant role in prevention of diabetic eye disease and communication with other medical professionals in the care of diabetes is essential.
Prince Albert, hailed Gateway to the North, is a smaller size city that has developed lots of amenities over the past 20 years. Additionally, we are very close to the beautiful Lake Country and many exciting outdoor activities. We are within 30 to 60 minutes of several lakes, Prince Albert National Park (Waskesiu), and Candle Lake. Cycling, golf, canoeing/kayaking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, boating, hiking, and many other summer activities are all in abundance. Accessibility to the larger centre of Saskatoon (140 km) for more services (culture, theater, restaurants, shopping, entertainment) as well as an international airport for ready access to travel.
